What would give me the most power and be reliable? The Powroll 415 kit with the Ross 10:8:1 piston or the Je piston with all the same stuff but the Je 10:8:1 416 piston?:D Also what would be the advantage of either one?

I believe the JE weights slighly less then the ross. This helps the piston to rev alittle quicker. The difference between the two pistons are probobly very minimal probobly .5-1 hp max.

the ross are the lightest. the je is the heaviest when comparing it with ross and wiseco. actually, i think the wiseco piston is actually heavier than the je but when you add the piston pin to the piston, the je weighs the most. now, i never weighed this myself. however, i run a ross with an aftermaket ross light piston pin so i know mine should be lighter. :D

the standard pin should come with it. when you order a light pin from ross, the standard one comes with it too. so you have two. the light ones from ross are an addition $20. i also choose to have my piston thermal coated and i won't put another one in my bike without this done.

Where and how do you get those thermal coated? Also why and price?:D Thanx cals you're a great help.

the price depends on who does the work. i think i paid $40 or so from C&D for an 88mm piston. here are a few links you can check out:

http://www.swaintech.com/header.html

this is where i had my header and silencer coated.

http://www.swaintech.com/twostroke.html

this talks about coating a 2 stroke piston. it is more of a benefit to coat the 2 stroke but similar advantages apply to the 4 stroke.

here is another article about coating in general.

JE and Ross are basically the same thing as far as construction,, the Ross is slightly lighter,, but ther JE and Ross stay true to Compression,, make sure you get a XR400 gasket set! helps quite a bit

yeah, i run a thin cosmetic head gasket (i think this is slightly thinner than the xr400 head gasket) and no base gasket (hondabond). this helps provide a better quench and flame travel across the top of the piston.

Yeah I had the 416 je 10.8:1 piston. I had friends which removed the base gaskets and such and were around 11.1 compression but they ran race fuel. I just got the JE 13.1 compression piston for my 450r with the thermal coating. I was told this helps reduce head and that way your safe to run 93 octane with the piston. This is all I was told. I run a 40/60 mix of vp-c12 to 93 after I got my porting, valves and other mods done which usually benifit if you run a higher octane.
