who else thinks that quad manufactures should make a race inspired 250cc 4 stroke machine? this is the kinda quad i dream about... almost like a yfz250 (yfz450 with a yzf250 motor) and a trx250r (450r w/ crf250 motor) and a ltz250 (i guess z400 w/ rmz250 motor).. with the growing Youth Production class at the nationals i think these quads should be made... anyone with me :macho

I think Yamaha should just stick the YZ250 motor in the YFZ frame and call it a day. It would weigh around 330lbs. Can someone maybe photoshop a YZ250 motor into a stock YFZ frame?

It would be cool to see a 250 2-stroke would come back out, BUT IT WONT! But we might just see a 250cc sport, But we need to have everything just like our big quads, so the kids can learn on somthing that is a little more forgiving!.

(also i dont think a yz250 is counterballanced is it?)

03-31-2005, 04:31 PM
i think it would be cool also. i bet they would be pretty fast to cuz they make around 30 hp which is about how much a stock 400ex makes:ermm: i know it will never happen but it would awesome if they remade the ol' 250r. except maybe beef up the engine so it will run with the 450's. that would be awesome!

i tihnk it would be cool for like a 13-16 year old's class at the nationals. 250f quad would be perfect for teenagers who want to race something bigger and more powerful then the blaster. If they had a class for it and factory quad im sure so many kids wouldnt switch over to dirt bikes. THey wonder why so many people lose interest in atv's, its because the atv manufacturers arent focusing on teens enought ot get them interested in racing easily. who wants to build an expensive blaster or cr80 based quad?

Out_Sider
03-31-2005, 04:54 PM
i just think that quad racing should be more like bike racing.. you know how theres different classes for 125s and 250s.. well damnit, why can't we have a 250 and 450 class (the 4 strokes of the two)

that would help alot of our younger riders to get into the sport, especially if there was a 250 Pro and 450 Pro.. maybe im just living in a fantasy world, but do you know how kick *** that would be

03-31-2005, 04:58 PM
yah, that is what i mean to happend.. just take the 450 machine, and put the 250cc powerplant in, in the 450s place and boom

and why we're at it, why not make a more race inspired 85cc 2 stroke machine?

because the truth is they are avoiding two strokes at all costs.

sounds like a good idea, but i would understand y they wouldn't also.. they already got machines out in that category,,and it would be built for like racing right,, well the age limit would hurt the selling of them, and plus once u get to that age i'm pretter sure u would rather go ahead and move up to the 450 then just a 250,,and the price range of sellin it,it would be alot of hasle, might as well just keep it as it is,:( but it is still a cool idea

Well of course they should add a counterbalanced and tuffen up the tranny some on the YZ250 2-Stroke engine. Theres a way around what some uninformed people call the "2-Stroke Ban". Make it for closed-course only, of course if you ride state land you won't be able to ride it due to emission restrictions and such, but how many people actually ride state lands? Everything around here is private property or a track.

About how much do used crf250 engines go for. I think I'm gonna pick up a 250x from a friend this summer, and I think I might have a new project.

Yeah, thats Thomas Brown on his JB Racing YZ250F. It's a sick bike. The power to weight ratio evens out so that it can run with the 450s pretty well actually.

Haha, the funny thing is....he's not 11. He's like 15 or so. He's just a little fart though, but man, can he ride! He's nuts!

what about a blaster frame with a 250f motor?

There are many aftermarket parts for the blaster. It sits low and is very light. A-arms, shocks, tires & rims, swingarm, axle, handle bars, some better looking plastics, and a 250f motor. That blaster would really rip. :blah:

i'm for it. i would probably buy one.

sorry to say it but i think its going to start getting
a lot harder for adults or parents to buy adult sized
atv's(above 90cc's) because 40% of atv injuries
are kids under 16 riding quads that you should be 16 to ride.
I work at a dealership and today they made everybody watch this mandatory movie about how dealerships can loose their liscense to sell atv's or anything else for selling any atv over 90cc's to an adult or anyone else if they know the atv is being bought for someone under 16
this may not go with this thread but it goes against what one guy said about a youth 13-16 age group in the nationals for 250cc bikes
I am all for selling a bike to anyone who can properly opperate the atv no matter what age but just watch out for this and try not to get your dealers in trouble
again like i said this might not belong in this thread but it kind of fits what someone said about the different brands making a 250cc bike for younger riders

SHOCKER
04-01-2005, 08:59 PM
IMO the dealer should have no say in who they sell it to. Id say there are more teens riding full size quads then adults. Maybe 50-60% are teens and other 40-50% are adults. something in that area. Besides its non of the dealers business who the bike is bought for. Aslong as its under an adults name. just my opinion

if they do i think they should come in 2 stroke and 4 stroke ... like honda can keep its 4 stroke reputation and yamaha make a 2 stroke one ... just my 2 cents...

and yes i know 2 strokes are almost gone ... :(

since yamaha is supposed to stop making the blasters this year they should throw the yz250f motor in the blaster to replace it

doubt it

bullitz400

I think yamaha should put their new 2005 Yz250f motor in the Blaster chassis. Maybe re-design the chassis so it fits bigger people a little better but so that its still on the light side and very easy to maneuver (SP).

04-30-2005, 10:03 PM
also the last of the banshees next year or the year after

+ 250 4 strokes or 2 stroke engines would make the blaster so unsturdy and uncofortable maybe wit a slightly bigger frame and swing arm and axle and longer a arms and better allround suspension, and just to top it out maybe some bigger plastics, yfz inspired and you will have a pretty descent atv

To be honest, i can`t wait till blasters are out of production(no offense for people who love blasters) but blasters and 250exs and 300exs are the quads I hate the most in the world at the exception of utility quads.(no offense to anyone)

I think it would be awesome if Yamaha, Honda, and Suzuki would make 250 4-stroke quads. It would really help quad racing, and personally, that 90cc for people until age 16 is soooooo lame! Do you really imagine like the typical 5`10" dude on a little 90cc mini quad? COMMON!!!! That rule is stupid! Besides, in motocross racing, a lot of them who race 250 4 strokes are young(like 14 years old) Since manufacturers are getting more and more implicated in quad racing(suzuki is the best example as of right now) they should step it up by introducing 250 4 stroke quads that originate from the dirtbike engines, I`ve been dreaming this for a long time, and I sure know that it will happen one day for sure.

Maybe as factory racing support increases over the next few years, these hybrids may become more popular, and the demand will be increased. Maybe some factory will nut up and make it.

I have been wondering what yamaha will do, since two of their popular quads will no longer be made in a year or two.

it would def. help all the kids be way more compettive and not always have o worry about doing the same jumps the big dogs do if there were 250fs with almost as much power.

They have to come out with something new... or Yamaha is screwed. They would only have a Warr-Raptor350, Raptor, and A YFZ. Thats like what Kawasaki did, no more lakota or mojave. Just a KFX and the V

05-01-2005, 06:20 PM
i heard something about yamaha having a quad to match up wit the v force, and they were supposed to have a tru 450 comin out in june. dont count on the the v force competitor just yet, that might be a while
