I cut my Curtis Sparks pipe on my 400, and it looks awesome. Not really much sound change though. Just looks sweeeeet!
Anyway, it was idleing kind of fast so I turned down the idle;It was still idleing fast. When I rev it up it idles down really slow.
I think it's the jets! What could it be? I have a 172 main jet and it ran rich with the full length silencer. Now that it's cut, it might be running lean because I noticed the engine was running a little hot. I haven't checked the plug yet.

What do you think? / Too rich? or Too lean?

PLEASE HELP. I'm going to the track this weekend because my new PEPs should be in from Baldwin Thurs. or Fri.:confused:

is the throttle snapping back quick like it should?

yes it snaps back quickly and doesn't get stuck at all. It's just weird.
I rev it, the throttle doesn't get stuck/it snaps back, and it still idles down slow. So I don't know whats wrong with it.
PLEASE HELP!!!

I would bet it is your jetting for sure. Check out this article, it will explain how to adjust all of the jets. I followed it and got my quad rinning like a top (I used to have the same idle problem you do).

check the plug to see if its lean

you WILL have to adjust your fuel screw.turn it out to richen it up,your too lean now;)

I checked my plug, it was white(lean) so I put a 172 main in and it was still lean, I had a 170 before. What size main should I go with? 174?-176?-178? WHAT?

If your idle is erractic it is probably not your main jet that is the problem. It is most likely your feul screw like '2muchquad' said. Check the link to the article above and it will tell you what to do.

When I had sparks on my 400 I ended up with a 185 with a fully portd 426 and cam at 2400. It also had no air box lid and a K&N.
