I would say the other Good Carb is the 39 FCR. You can see that on www.sparksracing.com Most Guys like the FCR better.

I have the edelbrock carb. I like it so far it haw awesome throttle response. I got it because I'm a dumb@ss when it comes to jets. I had no problem dialing it in but as far as power goes i can't say because I had it installed at the same time i had the 440 done. Also I have never ridden a EX with a FCR carb so i don't know how they compare. But if you go with the FCR carb there are plunty of people on the site that have them and you'll be able to get help on them.

One thing I believe is that the edelbrock puts out HP at a lower RPM and has as much Torque (if not more) as the FCR's. I could be wrong though so don't anyone get PO'd at me if i am.

I have an edelbrock carb on mine. But I can't figure out how to adjust the jettings on it. It seems to be running way to rich. Just wondering if someone could help me out.

Thanks

What are you having problems with exactly? Did you buy this new or used?

It just seems to be getting to much fuel and I am not familiar with the carb. But I suppose it needs to be jetted down. And I don't know how to adjust that on these Carbs. It came on my dads 400ex when he bought his. But his is torn down now so I put it on mine.

What are your Mods? Like Pipe or Air Filter?

I had the qwicksilver Edelbrock on my 400ex,has port work, bigger valves, 440 kit,479 grind web cam, 4mm stroker, WB full pipe, the Edelbrock is a good carb, I recently changed it to a Kiehin 41mm, it made a very noticable difference in performance, if your not going to go all out on mods, the Edelbrock will work just fine, plus it's billeted aluminum and looks trick.

Ricky g........was that a Shee I just beat.

My motor builder has put a 426 fully built motor on the dyno with stock carb, the edelbrock, and the 39mm FCR. The edelbrock provides almost 4 more ponies and the FCR adds about one more horse power. However the edelbrock is much easier to set up and a little less expensive.

Adjusting the carb is simple.

Take the front plastic off to where you are able to lift the gas tank up a little. On top of the carb there is a little screw. Take that screw out. Now if you have the little tool that came with the carb screw that in there. Now open the carb up to WO and hold it there. Now take the little tool that you just put in and push the top down (while holding the throttle open) and turn left or right until you feel the tool bite down. Once it bites down turn right to richen the mixture up and left to lean it out. You will feel it click while you turn it.

Hopefully this helps.

hey man

i was wondering if it would do any good on a stock machine and if i can feel a big difference if i got the carb and also a sparks racing slip on if they have one or hmf and a uni filter that i would be leaving stock 400ex in the dust no questions ask?? and still be able to keep my 3 year warranty ?

Just Race,
Good instructions on adjusting the Edelbrock carb, except I thing it goes right for lean and left for rich. It's like screwing the needle in or out, up or down as the case may be.

Hey vista check your instructions again. You wouldn't want to hurt your motor.

Hey thanks, no wonder it's been so hard to start...

I'm running mine on 7 clicks from full rich. I don't have to use the enrichener to start mine. Once i passed the point where it was too rich it quit idling and fouled the plug. After that I just backed it up to 7 clicks from full rich and its been running fine.
