I like to ride on trails, I dont race or do big jumps.
I'm looking at the 400ex and the 450R. the dealer told me the 450R is not a good trail bike since if stalled its hard to start and is hard to control on tight trails. the 400ex is much better. but my thing is air cooled vs liquid cooled. yrs ago the 400ex was the best atv to get but how about todays 450's. need feed back i hate to get something ill hate riding.

well thats why the yamaha outsells honda. the 450 is awesome in the trails. your dealer is wrong wrong wrong. i dont even stand up to start mine. starts easy. the 400 i had was ok but you will outgrow the power on the 1st season or sooner. the 450 is lighter and nimbler, which makes it even better in the trails. i mostly ride trails (aggressive) and there is nothing better. it is not tiring to ride at all. 2x better than my 400 my trx450r is the answer.

Yeah i do alot of aggressive trail riding, and this year im starting racing with my 450R...it goes great in the trails

450's are so easy to kickstart my small *** (155 Lbs) can start it sitting down. I ride fast trails and recreational ride and sold my slightly modded 400ex for this and I never regret it ;)

Wow is your dealer wrong. I own a 450r and its a great trail bike if you dont mind getting off every now and then to push it out of tight areas, but most of the time you can do a little doughnut and turn because of the power it has! A 450 is a great bike I have no problems at all the power doesnt get old and you will be very happy with it.

Remember with kickstart... NO BATTERY TO CHANGE!:blah:

i can start it sitting down and it will stop twice as fast in a panic. to me that is trail friendly. light quick nimble = trail.

the speedy81304 on trx.org is my cuz his 450R rocks. I used his profile on here to find out more about the 400EX and 450R. he wont let me ride his anymore since i almost flipped it over. I see every is saying the 450R is a good machine. but i see the new 05 400ex has Reverse im gona go with that one.
