Ok im looking for a good all rouond trail quad that will last for a long time. I'm looking at the 400EX and the 450R. the dealer said the 450R is nice but is hard to start if stalles. the 400EX is easyer to ride. but AIR cooled vs liquid cooled. i now the 400ex was the best atv yrs ago to get for racing. but what about todays new 450's. need feed back. dont want to get something ill hate to ride.

If you're buying a Honda, you won't hate riding. Both of those models are very nice to ride and have plenty of power. The newer 450's are a newer racing breed, and the 400 is more of an all-around quad now that you can basically do anything with, from trails to MX. I'm buying a used 400ex sometime this summer and having riden one before, it will suit me just fine :D

Even though i have a 400ex, i would preferebly buy the 400EX. It is nice because the electric start dont give out on ya when ur havin problems. EVn thought the 450 is newer, and faster, I would still buy the 400, it hold up more, and is an all-around quad to ride with. The 450 is just more for racing. The 400ex you can just put around on, and have fun if u wanna. They are both nice quads, i have had good experience with them both, but i would say the 400ex holds up better in all conditions. But if you go with the 450R, you will still have a good time with the quad, just in my opinion, i would go for the 400.

I would stick with the 400ex if you change the oil it is bullet proof and is an excellant trail bike. The 450r is a bike that want to be ridden fast and hard. IMO

If I had the money I would defenitly get a 450r! It is better in every way! But if you don't ride hard then a 400ex would probley suit you better. By the way I ride a 400ex.

if you do get a 450, I would get the Yamaha b/c of the elctric start.

well I've always been hard core at what ever i do. I like speed and i like being able to trail ride with family but also just go nuts and balls to the wall riding. I used to have a 1986 ATC200X with loads of engine work and suspension work done to it. it was hard to keep the front end down. .

k, well there is a price difference if that matters at all. The 450 has way more power and you can still ride it on the trails with the fam. But then you can also go way balls out and keep up with some of the two strokes out there.

You can find a 400ex for a very good deal. Just keep looking around...
