What offsets are you all running front and rear on your E-tons..? It looks like this will probably be our first upgrade on the new E-ton (Viper 70). Are the 16 X 6.5 tires what everybody’s running..? Any help is appreciated... Also if you have good luck from any particular dealer/supplier please let me know.

Thanks, Wade

Same as livin4real ,but we run the 16 inch rear shredders and the front offset on ours I believe is a 2/4 on our 70Eton.

Looks like I'm going to go with the same front rims as livn4real but with Quadjunkies rear tire size. After all the looking around I did that seems to be the right set up for us at this point.

Thanks, Wade

I can't wait to see how excited Dylan is going to be..!!!

The 16's should work great on your 70. You'll have to post a pic
when you get them.

We run the 19x6x10 ITP Holeshots MXer's on the front with 2/4 offset. On the rear we have 18x6.5x8 Carlisle on the rear. Both Douglas blue dot alum. wheels. They work great for us.

Just keep in mind if you go to 16's on the rear it will change your top end speed. You will have to change the rear sprocket also. We went from 16's to 18's on the rear and it really gave us the topend speed. Since your going smaller on the rear it will rev out alot faster.

We run the 18's for times like WORCS racing, the big sand whoops and most of the course requires us to have to run a bigger tire for some added traction, so I guess depending on WHAT you will be needing them for will make a difference as well. :) IT works for us cause I think we literally now have all the sprockets for ours but two sizes.

Well the jury is out on what tire actually comes on the 2005 E-ton 70. Being over here I only know what I read online (scary thought). E-ton's website says the 70cc comes with the same tire as the 50cc…. that would be 16X8-7’s. If that is so then I should be spot on with the 16’s. If not then we will figure out what needs to be done later.

For now I just want to get the quad for him so he can get used to riding it… we can make it faster as he gets better.

But you all have me thinking that I should be looking at the 2/4 rim for the front instead of the 2/3. Dang I thought I had this all figured out.

The 5" wide front wheel with a 6" wide tire will help keep your rim
from sticking out farther than the tire's edge and cut down on dents and dings from trees, other quads, etc..

Yes, I know the pro’s and cons of using a 6 inch tire on a 5 and 6 inch rim but I was looking for how that combo worked on the quad. I was actually all set to buy the 5 inch rim until I read how these two have kids racing on 6 inch fronts.

Lets face it none of us would use a 2/4 rim on the front of one of our quads with the 2" towards the inside because it would handle like dodo. Just look at the "flipped rim" post up in the “Steering and Suspension” forum.

I'm just trying to get find the best setup for this mini without playing the "trial by error method". I guess you could say I'm trying to spend my money wisely. Man I hate that I’m becoming a responsible adult.

Thanks again, Wade

Here is a pic of Dylan sitting on a 70... It was taken yesterday. At first he liked the red one but then he remembered that his helmet was blue so he wants the blue now. the best part is he really doesn't know he is getting one.

Anyway the point of this post was to see if you all think that is an 18 inch tire or not. It looks like it to me...

According to eton's site they're 145/70-6

http://www.etonamerica.com/Prd_RXL70_SS.htm

Yea, I must have been looking at old specs... but 145/70-6's only end up being 14 inches tall. So I'm thinking that isn't right either.

I'll find out this week when we buy it.

At least with the e-ton, it comes with a common bolt pattern so they're plenty of wheel options for you to go with. Check out
www.recreationtires.com , they're really reasonable on pricing and if you decide to order from them, call them and they will cut shipping costs down.

On a different note, stay safe over there. One of my best friends is an officer in Mosul right now, almost everyday he has a new story for me on how crazy it is. :eek2:

ohski

That is actually who I plan on buying them from... Great selection and the prices were lower than anybody else too. Then to top it off they have some package deals that make it even cheaper.

Thanks, Wade

It's pretty safe where I am... I do here/feel things blowing up in the distance. Still better than last year. They used to drop mortars and rockets on us all the time but that has really calmed down.

I guess it depends on what kind of rding the kid will be doing but we have always ran a 2/4 offset and put a Damper on my Daughters quad ,no complaints from them so far! Never had a dinged up rim and they mostly FT race! Wish I had a better pic to post

The steering dampener is a really good idea… I had thought of that but wasn’t sure if you could get one for a mini. Maybe they are the same I’m not sure. Either way I do believe I’ll be trying to find one for him. I have one on my Honda and realized I needed one on the Suzuki the first time I hit the trails.

Thanks for the extra pics, Wade

Not to hijack this thread, but on my kids Eton 50 it doesn't have a normal lug setup. It only has one large nut holding the wheels on. Is there any way around this so we can use larger/better wheels? Thanks.

According to all the paperwork and the stickers on the quad...it's a Viper Mini 50. Is that different than a regular 50? My luck they sold me a 40 with a dummy sticker kit:confused:

In your pic I see that it is called a "Mini 50". I bet that quad is the same size as the 40. I know the 70 we are buying is a bigger quad than that.

I wonder if they changed some of it for the newer models, cause our 50 wasnt like that

Yea, it looks like the Mini 50 is different than your quad... It looks like even their website has the wrong info on it. Maybe a mid year model change.

I know the 70 that we are buying is like yours Quadjunkies, meening the chassis is the same as a 90. That was another reason for us wanting the Eton 70 over the Polaris 50.

Well that figures. I buy the one-off, hybrid, super secret, no aftermarket support mini quad. Ahh well. I'll let her tear it up on this for a year or so and then bump her up to a TRX90. Thanks everyone.

Got a Question to ask.
I just bought a New RXL Viper 50 and was wondering if there is some sort of limiters on it?

It does not rev out very well and sputters. I removed the exhaust pipe and checked for a washer and none there. Is there any others?

Thanks

The O5 viper 50's have direct connect wheels but for about 200 dollars you can change to a 4x110 hub set up, but for that kind of money you could have bought a 70. I just bought my son an 05 90 viper and I'm wondering what is the best way to widen out the front spacers or A arms.

Shawn Yes. There's a CDi unit located just behind the front grille. Should be on the left hand side. There's a little dial with 0-7 numbered on it. It's probably on 0 right now. Move it to 7 and use the throttle stop to adjust the top speed.

Shawn H
04-18-2005, 11:57 AM
i checked for that and there is no dial I must not have that model? I have the green wire on the back I just cut it.

Does the adjustable cdi work in place of the non adjustable on mine? Is it better?

Thanks for the info!!!
