scratched PS2 disc? what to do???

i borrowed my new mx vs atv unleashed game to my younger buddy for the weekend and it got scratched good. it started freezing in the menus, but now it wont even load past the copyright page... is there any way i can get the scratch out or is the game done for???? need info asap.

Might wanna try buying a disk repair kit.

This probably isn't the smartest thing to do but I don't think it can hurt the disk.....try using windex and a real soft cloth... might work.

thanks for the help. i tried alchohol and cloth but it is a deep sctatch, looks like it was caused by the tray but not sure.

need more suggestions.

take it back to store and tell them game was messed up...they should exchange it :devil:

Around here we have a chain store called game crazy,they have a machine that can resurface dvd,cd or game disks..They charge 1-2 dollars, takes 10 minutes your done, disk is good as new..I would call Blockbuster, Hollywood video stores or if you have any game store close to you..

im not sure if it works every time but my friend told me to put it in the toilet and flush it and it worked for me lol

depending on the depth of the scratch,use Turtle Wax(no kidding),dont let it dry copmletely and use a soft cloth and wipe in a circular motion.......should clean it up,works for all my cd's

Car wax or peanut butter, its the clear coat that is scratched and the ps2 can read through the scratches. Put some peanut butter on a rag and wipe it on the cd, then take a nice clean soft cloth towel and wipe it off.

don't they make those little tools that resurface disks?? i thought i remember seeing them at a dvd store.

Take it to Blockbuster and have them fix it ..

If cleaning it with alky wont work then ur focked. However look on the other side of the disk, where the words and colored writing is, and make sure its not scratched on that side. If it is, then the CD grabage.

Does your friend have an older PS2 ? (one of the big ones) after awhile they get a problem and if they are even slightly bumped it will totally screw up the disc!

i have the older ps2 he has the newer one, today i went to his house and tried the game in his ps2, and it worked absolutely perfect. my mom is going to go the the video store tommorrow and see if they will polish it.

Its your ps2 :) not the game.

heres what you do in this situation.

1. go to walmart
2. buy new ps2
3. take home and take new ps2 out of box and put broken ps2 in box
4. take broken ps2 to walmart and tell them they sold you a defective item and that you just want your money back because you are deeply upset :devil:
