i have an atc 350x motor that was built with hardened valves and springs, stage 2 cam, 11;1 comp piston and it was bored .20 over. it kicks over and every once and awhile it starts for like a second. i rejetted the carb, checked all wiring and grounds. if anyone could please help let me kno

Top dead center it again and make sure the cam is in the right place and the valves are adjusted right. Check to make sure there is fire getting to the plug, not just the wires are good, take the plug out and look for spark, and if still nothing, take the carb off and make sure it is pumping fuel through right and that maybe something isn't out of adjustment.

i did all that alredy a couple of times. when i take the plug out it feels wet with gas. i thought maybe its getting to much fuel. there is really good spark.

when you put the cam in,did you have all the slack on the tensioner side?make sure your valves areadjusted right.too tight and it wont start, good luck:)

its all in right. i got it started finally but now i cant get it to stay running. i think it seems like a fuel problem.

how much richer on the jetting did you go? make sure the mainjet didn't fall out.

its a stock 350x carb with all the stock jets. what jets would you recomend to put in there

First off, if you're plug was wet-fouled, try to get it started with a new one. Get it to the point that you can at least get it to fire within three kicks, even if it won't stay running. Then, put a new plug in, and get it to fire. If it STILL won't run, pull the plug and see if it's telling you that you have too much fuel.

i had that probly you can try to adjust the air/fuel screw...but i would get a bigger main jet ..and pilot.. 135-140 main..40-42 pilot..also get a new plug..mine fouled out started everynow and then put a new one fired right up....NGK DR8ESL..is the right plug if you didn't know gap is .028 also when you have it TDC...you need to spin the motor around a couple times then make sure your still at TDC ..it will still run a little off just not good...you might see it on but when you spin it around a couple times it could be a tooth or more off

I did wut you said and it worked a little bit then died and it kept doing that. i also put a 138 main jet and 40 pilot and runs alittle better but not much. everytime i touch the throttle it dies and takes a couple of kicks to strart back up. i was thinkin of taken it apart and checking the timeing again.

it sounds like it is off a tooth ...check it spin it around a couple times make sure it lines up again..

thats what im thinkin to

i reset the timeing and runs alittle better but not much. it still dies out wen i touch the gas.

Does it idle if you DON'T touch the gas?

ya for a little bit. but somtimes it will cut out.

I had a similar problem with my quad when I first rebuild it. I don't have an explanation, but it went away when I let the engine warm up, and it never returned.

Try playing with the pilot jet and fuel screw until it will idle on it's own. Then, let it sit and idle for a minute or two before you touch the gas. I went one pilot size up from stock, and it idles great.

Also, bump the idle speed up a bit with the idle speed adjustment screw. A fast idle won't hurt anything as long as you're not dangerously lean. And if you go one pilot up from stock, you're not going to be dangerously lean.

Have you pumped on the throttle with the carb off the bike to be sure the carb is working right(slide and pumping gas)?

hey can you rev on it with the choke on or half choke??

the carb works good. i checked all that already. its getting plenty of gas. when i dropped sizes on the jets it ran a little better. i might go a little lower and maybe it will run better.

when i put the choke on it wont even start. it starts better with it off.

i would drop that main to a 128 and a 42 pilot or try the 40

i dropped it to a 122 and a 40. it starts easier but wont stay idleing. if i try to adjust the idle it wont stay running.

do you have a little bigger jet?? i know 122 is stock in my 300.... yours is a 138...and 40 slow...so i would jump up to something bigger then stock main and slow.. what kind of pipe you have? also did you adjust your needle?? i mean those are stock for the 350x

HondaR

also with that high compression ratio are you running Race Gas??

ltl666devil

im runnig an fmf ehaust. i did not touch ny needle. also i am running race gas.

put the main and pilot back in that is was running on but not idling and then move your needle clip one

if it stalls when you hit the gas,try a richer pilot.:)
