I'm wanting to move my battery up front, under my plastics, I was just wondering if it would be a good or bad idea.... I don't know if it would restrict airflow to the oil cooler. I know 44oEX did it and I know a company sells a relocation kit, so I'm sure everything would be ok, but I'd just like some opinions.
Thanks

what would be the advantages of doing this?

I'm noticing my subframe slightly bending to the left, and by moving the battery up front or say in an airbox, your centering the wait of the battery.... I was thinking about getting an airbox that holds the battery, until I saw their price..... :( I also liked the idea that 44oEX did with his airbox(see through) and might consider making one, of course if that's alright with him:o

Good idea, I would like it to be in a more sealed off location also , so when you go mudding it doesn't get all in the battery like it does now. On my 250 it is under the seat behind the airbox. I kinda like that spot but the 400 is set up totally different.

I would hate my battery up front, it would unbalance it front to back seems to me, mine is in the air box and I really like it, hidden and the box sems to draw attention also.

ive been contemplating putting my battery in the stock airbox.. itll fit, bearly.. but itll get that wart off the side of the subframe.. and look alot cleaner.. just have to do some slight mounting modifications so the battery can be securely mounted in the airbox..

If i do it, ill be sure to post pics

That would be interesting..... I hope that the battery will mount to the frame independently from the air box. I have heard of the air box mounting tabs breaking from jumping.

ahh yes.. i have went out and looked at it, and itll be so tight in there, that ill wait till i get a aftermarket airbox before i do it.. and the tab issue is another thing.. doesnt look as sturdy as it could be.. so unless i can come up with a sure fire way.. then i wont..

oh well

well I did it just to be diffrent mostly :D
But it does put the weigh in the middle and will help the subframe a little. you can cut of the battery mount for a really clean look. ans no one will mess with your batery.

you just have to make a plate that goes under the battery for support and mod the wirering a little to reatch everything.

and it make thaking the rear fender off and on alot easier.

this was the first try at getting everything right. the wirering is know alot cleaner then that.
