2005 Trx 400ex

Hi everybody, what do you think of the 400 ex 2005, is it better than the previous models?'cause i will have one maybe..(i have already run an 2003..) thank you.

the 2005's are cool. with the 450r plastic and all, and the fact that they have reverse. I just don't like how they are 13 pounds heavier than any other model. Personally I am glad that i got a 2004 model. I like the looks of the 99-04 front plastic piece and I don't really care for reverse that much. but i know a lot of people who won't ride a quad w/o reverse.

i guess they're ok...they come with...REVERSE... honestly do they really think that that one modification and being new justifies jacking the price so much?

I think the new plastic is kinda gay, if I had an 05 I'd put the older fenders on.
Kinda looks like a wanna be 450R. Yamaha does that with all their quads.
"Hey is that anew 450R ?, nope just a 400EX, oh well". Just mho anyways.

Interesting thing about the weight though is that ATVSport put the 2005 400EX on the scale wet and it cam in at 404 lbs which is the same as the 450R wet. The Z came in at 419 pounds wet, the Raptor 350 came in at 408 and the YFZ came in at 387. I think the manufactures "claimed" dry weight is not always accurate. In the same article they said that Honda also told them that the reverse gear added a few pounds but the new plastics took off a few pounds as well leaving the weight close to the same as the older models.

I hate the new 2005 400ex, i hate the plastic, but they onyl good thing is the reverse. I wish honda would have stuck with the old kind of plastic they had for the 400ex, but it is kinda cool that honda finally makes one of their atv's different than it did when it came out.

personally, i ride mine, i dont sit and stare at it. if i wanted a 450 i woulda bought one. this is my second 400 so i knew what i was getting into. have had zero problems with mine so far. happy rider!

i have to agree...I love my 05 400...the one and only thing I dislike is the taillight design!!!they have no where near as much freedom of movement as prior years and they cost $72 compared to $17 for the old ones...Its like the light sits alot lower than the older ones...shattered mine within 4 hours of haven the bike....oh well
