Has anyone heard of people using 250r A-arms and Raptor front shocks on the 300ex? If so how does it work? Do you guys think it will work?

I know that you can use a Raptor rear shock as long as you use a 01 shock. Is there any way of modifying a 300ex to use other years?

I want to widen my wife’s quad to make it more stable but she doesn't want me to spend a lot on it (but if it was a Coach purse then the money is justifiable  Women! lol)

Sorry if I'm beating a dead horse but my search turned up nothing.

Thanks in advance. :D

I dont know about all taht craptor stuff. Bu i know you can use 400ex/250r a-arms with 400ex shocks, but you have to buy a upper shock relocation bracket. I know Hetrick racing has that bracket for the 300ex. you can find 400ex a-arms and shocks on e-bay real sheap. Thats the way id go.

Thanks, do you know about how much wider it makes the front? I plan on using spacers for the rear.

Your welcome. I think stock 400ex a-arms are 2 inches longer thatn 300ex a-arms. so it would make the front end 4 inches wider.

you can only use the 01 rear raptor shock
all other years have a piggyback and it will hit the airbox

look around in the suspension forum. there are a bunch of topics on why the 400ex a-arms are a bad idea on a 300ex. the tierod ends mount in the wrong spot, the camber is different, it has lots of bumpsteer and steering is real twitchy. even one of my biggest critics on this topic has recently switched to what i call the proper set up. buy any 300ex a-arms, with a 400ex mounting bracket and have a custom set of shocks made. you can use ASR or burgaurd (i would prefer burgaurd of the two) a-arms, and works shocks to keep it cheap. or look around, someone is always parting out a 300ex on this site

Bradley is right. Stay away from the 400ex/250r a arm setup on the 300ex. I had 250r arms on mine and the bumpsteer was very noticeable. I would get tired after only a half hour of riding. Now I have +2 burgards with custom elkas and the shockmount bracket and it is so much better than the 250r setup. The 01 raptor shock is a good mod for the rear though.

Well I guess if I had searched a little better I would have found that lol. Thanks for all the info guys. I'll give the +2 burgards a shot.

I just want to make this bike more stable for my wife. She's scary sometimes.:uhoh:

If I wanted her on two wheels I would have bought her a dirt bike. :D
