im redoing a 2001 raptor that s**t the trans. and the kid who owens the quad wants a high comp. piston and a low to mid cam. hes got a k&n with outerwaer and a lrd full system and five filter plugs in the top of the air box. he rides at sea level most of the time. how should i jet the carb??? and what should the valve lash be with the bigger cam???

You should jet it very carefully. Don't ask how to jet, jetting varies to much, just go up in jet sizes till it skips then go down one.

First off you need to relize the Raptor has TWO carbs. I would personallly buy jets ranging from 170 - 200 in 5 point incremants or maybe 2 points.Jetting is trial and error it takes time. I would start with 170-175 ane remember you need to increase the pilot jets also try 27.5 or maybe even 30's. Also he should probabley run race gas with a high compression piston.:devil

Depending on what the comp. ratio is what will determine if he has to run race gas. 11.1 means you need race gas, but thats on a AIR-cooled. The crapturd is liquid so u can run a high comp. w/out race gas.
