Any pointers, tips, tricks, etc. to share? I've done countless pad replacements on cars, but the caliper's a little funny looking to me. Looks like there's a few sub-assemblies there and I'm not sure until I sit down with the tools which bolts even have to come off. Are there any good walk-throughs posted out there on the web? Of course, this is now reason 7,394 to just go buy the damn manual! Thanks.

They are quite simple to replace and i've only 'helped' doing car brakes:p

There is a shim on the pad that is against the caliper piston, make sure that it is in place otherwise the pad will wear unevenly and prematuerly. I did 'rotate' the pads when I didn't know this and it worked out fine.

First off loosen the two bolts that hold on the brake pads. If you still have the parking brake crap on loosen all those bolts. This makes it easier on you once you get the caliper off. Now loosen the caliper mounting bolts and remove them. Remove the brake pad bolts and then the brake pads. Loosn the parking brake bolts out so you can compress the piston back into the caliper. I loosen the resevoir bottle when I compress the piston so I don't blow any seals out. The next thing I do is compress the piston. Make sure you put the shim back in the caliper piston. You will see what we are talking about. Once that is done put the new brake pads on and put the bolts in. I put them in loosely so you canpry them apart easier. Put the caliper back in position and tightened the caliper mounting bolts. Once you get the pads over the disc then you can tighten the brake pad bolts. Reinstall the parking brake crap and hit your rear brakes so they compress to the disc. You should be done. You don't even have to bleed the brakes.

MAKE SURE YOU USE ANTI-SEIZE ON THE BRAKE PAD BOLTS!!!

Hope this helps, it usually only takes me about five minutes to do that.

Thanks guys. Like most maintenance chores, I'm sure I'll be an old pro after doing it once.
