Im looking into getting an axle pretty soon for my X. My buddy who knows his **** says the durablue and lonestar are junk, and that they are made by the same company, he claims that the RPM is the best axle on the market what do you guys think? I would get a durablue just for the price but i hear the service on their warranty is ****, all they do is straighten and never replace it. How about it?

LoneStar cost just as much as a DuraBlue if you buy from the Quadshop. To bad there is none in stock, and it won't be a few weeks till they come in.

So get in line behind me and buy LSR.:)

Both are very good axles, ive only been racing for a little bit and have seen more durablues brake then anything, for a mater of fact thats all ive see brake or bend, even stockers are holding up better. I got a LSR axle on mine, i like it alot, i would recomend them to anyone. I got mine from the quadshop for 299.00 cant beat that deal, its even cheaper then the top line durablue. I got the lsr because of the warrenty is really one of the best. I would buy the LSR or RPM and worry about something else.

From what I have heard a Durablue will break when any other axle might bend alittle either way when I'm ready it's LSR for me.

RPM or Rad are the Best Axles Period.

I would go with LSR just for price but hey if you got the cash buy a RPM for the **** of it. ITs just extra security in mind.

05-11-2002, 06:47 PM
lsr is the best they have a true warranty too and they look awesome, the extra width made great improvements in cornering i love mine

Hey dudes, i have heard the same thing, that durablues are junk and break all the time. My buddy who has an R and races regularly bought a RPM axle. I talked to one of the pro racers at my local track and they just got a sponsor from RPM. They didnt like the Durable either, that is what they had before and it busted in one of the freestyle comps he was in, in fact he was on the cover of dirt wheels with his broken axle! haha, I think i will look into gettin a LSR just because it sounds like durablue is terribale and RPM is too much, how much would one cost?

They are like 370 or some where around in there.

RPM makes the best axle on the planet PERIOD. They have a true warranty. There must be a reason all the top pros rum the RPM axle. Jerimiah Jones, Dana Creech, I believe Tim Farr runs one, Spadder ran one. Brian Steel runs one. Think about this... This is the axel Dana uses, and we all know how he FLYS!!!!

Durablue will make you blue trying to get another. Stick with your brother and buy any other that would be really cool.

I love my RPM, wouldn't own another axle. But, if money was tight I'd jump on The Quadshop's LSR @ $299 deal.

I have a LSR and they are great, i wouldnt reccomend a Dura-break woops i mean Durablue i broke one in half and it was not pleasant, ive seen too many of them break to buy another one, RPM i would say is the best but right now im running the LSR.

dnan creech uses a special edition rpm, not the normal one, the one he runs cost around 5oo bucks something like that

Dana use the Dominator 2. The dominator is still way better than a durabreak or maybe a LSR axle. Brian Steel has been using his Dominator for like five years... with no problems. He had a Dominator not the Dominator 2. And people like us ( common folk ) can't hardly get a dominator 2. They are reserved for the pros. And besides who wants to spend %500.00 on an axle anyway??

hey i was just on lonestars website and they say they straighten the axle if it is bent, they say it doesnt ruin the strength but why would it on a durablue if it doesnt on the lsr. i want to buy an axle, prolly lonestar, but i have to find a way to bend my stock one without braking somethin else. if anyone knows how to do that, help cuz i cant get a new one unless the stock one breaks(i know, parents rules suck ballz).;) dont think i am an *** just a problem solver.:D

I have run all three of the axles you are discussing.

I currently run a Dominator 2 on my freestyle and my MX quad.

I have regular Dominators as well that I run on my other quads and have run a regular Dominator in the past on other quads.

I can honestly say that I have gone through a few axles in the past, but have never, ever, had any trouble with a RPM axle, even when I wasn't sponsored by them.

I am very happy to say that I am currently sponsored by RPM and feel that they have the absoulte best product by far on the market.

I would say that it is up to the rider and how important it is for them to finish a race and how good they are at recovery if they land bad and bend/break their axles. I know most of the time you can avoid a seriously bad landing when an axle snaps or bends, but you can't finish a race with a broken axle or with one that is bent real bad. If you are just playing around you might save a couple of bucks. If you are serious about your racing/riding you might want to consider how long you will be waiting after you bend or break an axle for the guarentee to be honored and how long you will be out of riding while it is being repaired. You might also want to consider how much it is worth to you to be able to finish a race even when you mess up and land bad. The RPM will take a lot of abuse that some of the others won't.

just my 2 cents.

what i think most people dont realize is that most of the pros dont ride the same axle or anything else we have. it might have the same name and look the same but they are 2 verry different things. so dont think that just because the pros have the axle that you have you have the same one. i would stand behind RPM everyday of my life ive NEVER seen or heard of one breaking. if i were you that is what i would go for. RPM has my vote!!! just my .02

kicken i think you are 100% right the stuff the pro's use may say the same name as the parts we have but thats were the simalaritys end.

I hate to say it but Dana just made his sponcers happy. Now all you guys want to buy a RPM axle. I'm not saying the RMP axle arn't junk.

But what about the RAD axles. They make aluminum and titanium axle. For the money you have to they better be the best axle.

Actually my RPM axle on my bike is exactly like the ones that anyone can buy. I do not have anything special about mine except that I haven't bent it.

I have one special axle that Lonestar gave me in 2000 (I think for two reasons, 1-I bent so many that year, and 2-I won the 250A class). It was special because they molded my name in it. That one is hanging on the wall in my room, I won't ever put that on a bike unless it is just for show.

Other than that I have never had a special axle that is different than anyone could buy.

Could be that some people have special stuff, just not me.

yea, im pretty sure (more sure now) that the chassi stuff is mainly the same, but the motor is i htink what the pros get special, like diff style pipes not normally offerd, i could be wrong, but who knows

Dave400ex
09-16-2002, 08:28 AM
I know when Nac`s still ran 250r`s, they put Lonestar stickers on a Laeger T-Pin Front End. Most of the Pro`s run what we can get.

stocktires
09-16-2002, 04:49 PM
Generally pro's dont get a whole lot of special attention as far as the motor either.
But if they need a special pipe made, the motor builder will build one to suite their needs. But nothing huge, just little things that you would expect a motor builder to do for you if your pro

kicken250x
09-16-2002, 07:35 PM
well i dont know alot about the big sponsered(sp?) teams but if it is anything like moto X(dirt bikes) then they get all kinda of special stuff but idk alot about quad teams so i could be wrong...just me .02

stocktires
09-16-2002, 07:36 PM
your exactly right,
Factory sponsered bike riders get almost any thing on their bike they want. But its different with quads

Extremeracer167
09-18-2002, 02:46 PM
RPM is prob. the best bet out there. Lonestar takes sooooo long to get an axle back right now if u bend it. I heard the wait for some ppl was over 6 months. Screw that, ill go with RPM that prob. wont bend in the first place. By the way, the pros dont get stuff that is that much differant that what everyone else can buy. This isnt team honda, where they make 3 or 3 special parts. THe pros get the same stuff we do!

toby400ex
09-18-2002, 03:14 PM
well maybe the quad racers will get some special parts for their quads once some factory teams realize that quads are getting almost as big as dirtbikes these days.

kicken250x
09-18-2002, 06:21 PM
it would be twice as big if they would show it some more on TV than just the GNCC's on OLN
