Will someone explain to me about the Edelbrock QuickSilver Carbs? I heard you don't have to jet. Does thin mean I will never have to rejet again even if I get more mods? Also what size do they come in and are they hard to install?:D

i had the edlebrock carb on my 400 but it sucked it would pop and make the quad very hard to start becouse it took away the choke you should juss get ur stock carb it will pay off and i maid more power with my stock on jetted then the edelbrock!

sounds like u just didnt have it adjusted correctly. ive talked to a few people with this carb and say they loved it. took a little bit to get used to with the adjusting of the needles but ran real good.

i myself will be running this carb on my powroll 416 stroker.

as for the no choke hit ur throttle a few times and will start right up because of the accelerator pump.:)

just my .02

the regular quiksilver is a 38-36 oval shaped i believe. and the eichner 440 is either 38 or 39 mm

what is 38-36? why not just like 38 or whatever? Also what brand of jets do they use?

insteadof being a perfect circle on the engine side of the carb it is oval 38mm by 36mm. it doesnt use any jets just a needle that u move up or down and change the sizes.(u get 3 with the carb)

I have the Eichner. I no longer have a choke either. I think it runs great. Then again the coldest start I have to worry about is 50 degrees.

I will admit, however that I've had some back fire, but you just have to adjust it a little.

The main thing I don't like about them is everything ive rode with one the throttle is extremly stiff. The second the throw is a lot longer, and helps wear your hand out even quicker. Third to get the things to open up all the wayy you pretty much gotta grind a hole in the side stock throttle assembly or, get a warrior throttle opens up a lot more but makes it even stiffer. I also feel its easier to jet a stock or fcr carb then it is to tune in the edelbrock.

I've had both edelbrocks and and a 39 and 41mm fcr. And would take a fcr over the edelbrock 10 times out of 10.

YEP!!! I even bought a $100 moose throttle housing to get mine opened up. I ended up putting about 30 mins on the carb, 20 of which was with a twist throttle which I about killed myself with. Anyway I LOVED the FCR 39mm. Cant beat it.

I like my edelbrock, taking out that little piece out of the thumb throttle was no big deal, but then again I have a bridgeport in my garage :)
About the choke, I believe they all, mine included, has what they call an "enrichener" I've always had to use it for starting at anything below like 60 degrees.

Yea when I got my 416 it already had the edelbrock on it and it is extremely stiff compared to my brothers stock carb. I just thought that I needed to put a new cable on it. When I did that there was hardly any difference. I know it is supposed to give you more power, but my first race this year, I got the holeshot and I guess since I had been practicing so much before the race, my thumb got to the point, where I couldn't move the throttle any more. And I ended up getting last. It sucked. I've been thinking about getting one of the FCR carbs because of how good I heard they were, but I didn't know if I did get one if it would make it easier to push the throttle. Does anyone know?

The fcr would be way better there comparable to the stockers.

But do they give you just as much power?

They give you more.

There is a reason they use the fcr's on the yzf, crf, drz, rmz and ktm hi performnace 4 strokes. Its beacuse its the best 4 stroke carb out there right now. Trust me if there was anything better out there they would use it.

just put a eichner 440 series edelbrock on my quad this week and love it, had to go up on my main jet but working great. i took it to the builder of my engine and let him ride it and he was real happy with the upgrade. and coming from ben jackson that is something.

I was thinking about doing the FCR39 carb, but i was just wondering if it would make that much of a difference, and if it would just increase top end, or low end as well..

after the mod of the new carb and all the mods to to engine i gained all the way through, with the longer swing arm i can now float the front through the first 3 gears and stay beside a modified 660 raptor. no one can tell me a 400ex can"t play with the bigger dogs in the yard or anywhere else. the eichner series carb is great and after grinding out my throttle housing , paper thin to get all the throttle , this 400ex>>>>>>>> ROCKS.:macho

open up your throttle housing and push the throttle wide open and grind away where the pivot hits the housing, you will make it thin but you will get more throttle and that is what it is all about.
