depends on whats dun to it. but in general a 36mm a/s carb is not too small for a stock sleeve setup

any stock jug with a port job can handle a 38mm a/s

my opinion is, get every drop of power out of the top end of a 250 so go with a 39mm. small jugs need that high revving to be fast with bigger bores. the 39mm dont take enough bottom end away to use a 38mm a/s unless you really want it. if you go with the 39 it will milk the top end, depending on the pipe you get. theres alot more variables then what i said, but id say if its ported run at LEAST a 38 mm carb. personally id throw a 39mm on it but thats me.

I use the Keihn 38mm AirStryker and would recommend it.

Where is the best place to find one. A online web site or a catalog. When i get home and finally get to ride the bike i will make my desicion on weher or not to go to a power valve. i also have a yz250. I had a non power vavle first then bot a new 01. i absolutely love the power valve. Will a A/S 38mm be big enough for a ESR 310PV or 330PV. i want power for the sand but useability for mx and trail. mostly mx and light speed trail ridding. Basicaly mx with trees.

yes a 38 a/s will be fine. u can always get it bored later or you could go to a 40mm non a/s pwk carb. this is the cheepest u will find a new carb, i always get used stuff off of forums or ebay though.

i ran a 39 on my stockbore ported top end and it ran great, im moving to a 39mm bored a/s carb for a 300cc jug that is ported for low to mid. it mainly depends on how the quad is setup. topend power = big carb

I don't know where you guys get the idea of using a big carb.

I have run many set ups. From experience and getting advice from the pro shops, here is what has worked best for me time and again.

250cc ported (up to .20 over): 36PWK A/S
265cc ported (up to .90 over): 38PWK A/S

300cc, 310cc: PWK39 Non A/S
330cc: PWK39 bored to a 40 (non A/S)

Some of you have said use a PWK39 on a 250 ported. It just didn't work for me with any combination of jetting/needles, etc.

All those number came from LRD and they worked everytime.
