Easter Bunny 50 Coverage

The 3rd round of the www.koontzadventure.com rolled into scenic Charleston WV this holiday weekend. This stop on the series was new to everyone and the promotor had done a great job of outlining a course that everyone seemed to be ready for!

Series regular Brandon Sturdivant chats with a fellow racer befor ethe start.

GNCC Pro rider Chris Jenks was on hand, as his crew checks over the controls prior to the start.

Pro class had an impressive number of entries today.

The green flag dropped and the riders hammered down the straight!

My eye's followed Jenks to see if he would try to grab the holeshot or lay back and use this race to hone his skills by picking off spots as the race wore on.

The sudden sound that comes from 20 quads letting off the gas usually means trouble. I was able to catch Jenks in the background as rider Kurt Mcgill goes for a wild ride as several quads got involved in a wreck in the first turn.

A spectacular picture catches Mcgill in mid flip. Mcgill didnt let this hamper his race and went on to claim 2nd in the pro class! Great race Kurt!

Combined class starts continued as the each start provided high speed action before the run up the mountain.

The rider on the white R just wasnt going to be thrown off! He saved it 3 different times as he used the quad beside him as a bumper:D Unfortunaley for me, this lead these 2 riders 20 feet off the course and straight at me:eek: A quick dash to safety and some outbursts of laughter had me heading to a new spot to collect pictures:cool:

The course had spots that were muddy, but overall race conditions were excellent. By the end of the race the sun was out and the racers were flyin!

Gabe Phillips rode to a 11th place finish today in the pro class

#99 Dustin Pigott follows another rider thru a mudhole on his way to a 1st place finish in B class and 6th overall. Great ride today Dustin!

after the first lap, the field spread out and each rider battled the course full of slick offcambers.

Davie Cook pilots his YFZ thru the course as a 400ex rider in the background days ended when his bike failed to stay running.

4x4 Utility class rider Robbie Tate was on fire and had his Kawasaki ripping up the track. He took 1st in class and 27th overall!

Chris Jenks kept the hammer down, but mechanical failure got him on the last lap. He finished 7th and posted the fastest lap time of the day.

Brent Sturdivant was not going down without a fight and rode like it was the last race of his life. He looked in good form today and it carried him to the overall win!

ATVrider.com member Jonathan Sheets rode great but a snapped axle on lap 6 cost him. He still managed to pull off 4th in B class 16- 22

The terrain varied on the MX portion of the course allowing for some awesome pictures!

#70 Calvin Brogan rode the race aboard his DS650 finishing 3rd in the Vet class!

Leo Lanham finished 2nd in the 4x4 Utility class

David Tharp grabbed himself 5th in the pro class

#35 David Collins rode hard and was charging all day. He finished 10th in the Pro class.

I thought it was kind of odd that the DS650 was in the race, but I have never been to or been in a cross country race before. I guess in my mind I would think they are too big?

unfortunately i missed this race last weekend, hopefull next weekend i will be able to race it. whats up with the hillclimb in the first couple of pictures you took, is that part of the track.. also, anyone that races koontz what is charleston like compared to other koontz tracks.. thanks
