short shifter

I was wondering if a crf450 shifter is shorter than a trx and will it fit the splines I guess Ive been on 2 wheels to long and got use to the short shifter on my CR

if i rember right my crf450 shifter was shorter and im pretty sure it wont fit cuz the atv shifter come out farther the only thing i can think of is either cut and weld or maybe move shifter up i hope that helps.
