Is buying an 11:1 compression for my 400 worth it? I plan on getting a HMF and can't afford a 440 kit. Thanks

Do a 416 with it then it would be more worth it.;)

Well I'm sure it is but common sense will tell you the thicker the cylinder wall the more reliable it will be. The stock bore 11:1 is a big improvement over stock and is really reliable. A cam would compliment it as well.

if you don't want to get a cam, i wouldn't get a piston, a stock bore high compression piston with a drop in cam can make a significant difference. you do not have to get a 440 so don't worry about that.

you need high compression piston, new aftermarket cam, rev box, you can also do more stuff my like porting and polishing but that will cost you a little more, with certain cams you will need to get new stiffer valve springs...

Certain cams also require hardfaced rockers as well. Personally I would stay away from the 426 unless you plan on having it resleeved as well. If you must bore, do a 416.
