guy with broken jet needs help!!!

Ok guys I got my broken jet out of the carb today. I installed a 140 jet and a NGK dpr9z spark plug and when I go to start it there is white smoke that smell like something is burning coming out by the head somewhere and it is still making the spark plug turn black. Any suggestions now? I have turned the throttle cable so mch I think this might be the problem but am not sure please help.

what are your modifications?
what is your elevation?
what is the temperature outside?

I have no mods, I am at 7000ft elevation, and right now the temp is in the 50's and it only get to about the high 70's low 80's in summer.

i would probably run around a keihin 142-145 mainjet for starters. a stock pilot jet should be fine.

is the plug black after the bike has idled or after a full throttle run?

yes it is with the stock 148 jet that is why I was thinking of going with a 140 or 145. It seems like you agree.
