Video Questions please help!

is there a way to get videos to the computer from a camcorder without using software maybe in windows media or movie maker my camera has s video DvI and USB anyway if it can be done does it put them into clips also when using movie maker is there a way to slow down videos freeze videos and take the sound off the videos? and the last question can you start and stop the videos at different points?>

you wont be able to do all that witg windows movie maker. i use arcsoft showbiz 2. its really easy and fun. besides if you use movie maker the movies come out like crap, all blurry and stuff.
