I am beginning to change my clutch, do I have to drain my oil before I begin?

You need to drain your oil. You might wanna get a manual. Its easy to do, if you have seen it done once.
.... or twice.

Yeah , Draining the oil would be a good idea , unless you wanna make a big mess.
