I WOULDNT PAY MORE THAN $550 FOR THAT. (600 THE MOST)
WHY NOT JUST DO THE WORK YOURSELF? ITS NOT THAT HARD AND YOU CAN LEARN AND HAVE FUN TOO. SEND THE HEAD OUT TO GET PORTED.

I dont need to do it my self becaues i will send my frame out at the same time to get powdercoated so i wont be in any hurry. I can just bring the motor up to them (about 45 min away) and drop my frame off to the powdercoater wait for the call grab them poth while im up there bring it home slap the motor in and everything on and be done. All i have to do is drive and i could drive a little furthere and pick up my houser stuff.

About that XR400 Cam....I had one in my machine and found that it lacks top end push.

I have a 406 kit in mine with a WB All around cam. The WBs cam is so much more powerful at high rpms than the XR cam.

I hear the 416 piston is a fine purchase, more so than the 440 for all around use. Remember, the XR cam is still a stock cam. Seriously consider an aftermarket cam to get the most of out that 416. Good luck with your rebuild bud!!

One more note, I agree with Dave. Do the rebuild yourself. I did mine and saved myself a few hundred bucks. It is alot of fun and you learn so much in the process.

Good luck bud!!

My 440 motor was only $940 and it has all the good stuff in the valve train. You dont need it with the xr 400 cam though. it just depends how much it is.

My entire 406 Rebuild was in the neighborhood of a grand. That includes "Everything"

Nac's i have almost the same kit except i went for the Web cam and bigger valves. I'm like you i only live 1/2 hour from lancaster so the turn around time is quick. I put close to 20 hrs on the new kit and i love it. Where are u getting your frame done at??? I had a guy from Whitehall (east side of Col.) due mine and it turned out great he stripped everything and i had 2 colors and he charged $250. If i can help with anything let me know.

I agree with the other people, get a more aggresive cam. And you would also benefit alot from a FCR 39mm carb. All u guys are saying do it your self... Whose is gonna do the 3-angle valve drive or porting?

That cam's fine but if you have the extra bling bling go for the Web. I'm sure that Scott told you that if you go to the web that u will need to harden the rockers, and that not cheep. But hey i'm sure that what ever you choose you will be happy with. Not sue what size a-arms you are looking for, but i know Pro-fab a set of plus 2's on the shelf last week when i was down there picking up my new xcr skins.

Damn i knew i should of went up there roday. I didnt have the money anyway but lookin is cool. LOL Well i guess ill just get the XR dont have the money for rockers. It will be good for me i way like 100 lb so i think the sparks pipe will do me all i need but this will help me keep up with the shees and C-dales. I have rode with a c dale and raptor and in trails it was easy. This will help alot with better handling and shocks. I will probly just get my houser stuff direct and some axis shocks so its 2 stop drop off 3 stop pick up. 1 is frame 2 is motor then pick up 1 frame 2 is motor 3 is my a-arms shocks and stem.

I got a 416 kit from Pro-fab, but I already had the XR cam, and did the work myself. Scott was great, and all I've heard is good things about Pro-fab in general, so I say go for it. The XR cam may not be the best out there, but for the price and since it's a true drop-in, I think it's great. I prefer bottom and mid power anyways, and now I've got plenty of that!!

I didn`t know you were getting a Valve Job. I thought you were just getting a 416 Piston, Cam, and some other Stuff. You should he Happy with whatever you do.

Does it make it any faster??....Um, yes it will be alot faster and have alot more power, torque etc...if you're just meaning top end speed, you can get that by changing your gear ratio. The 416 will help you pull taller gears better as well, and get to the top end faster...
