this quad looks to me like a tri-z 250 3 wheeler frame that has been converted to a four wheeler with yz 250 bike motor

Hon300ex
03-23-2005, 05:03 PM
its got a yamaha yz 250 engine... idk what kind of frame but have fun with it

exrider360

mix betwen a blaster yz250 and a trike

bradley300
03-25-2005, 12:27 PM
its definatly a yamaha swingarm-but the only no link quad is a blaster, and that swingy is totally different that a blasters. the plastic is very odd, the front looks similar to a banshee, but the frame is different

Thats a home made job for sure.....looks fun!

03-25-2005, 09:06 PM
at first glance i thought it was a kawasaki tecate but then i saw the yamaha motoe. definitly tecate fenders.

bradley300
03-26-2005, 07:49 AM
the fenders are simar to a tecate, but thats not what they are

SandAddict_pred
03-29-2005, 01:17 AM
look again guys.. its a triz250 conversion of sorts..

ESrider
04-04-2005, 03:31 PM
It's definitely not the dirt bike motor, it has a forward kicker.

Get a tricked banshee or cannondale then tell me if your scared form its power and speed.

This ones pretty simple-thats a 1986 Yamaha Tri-Z that has one of the good 'ole three to four wheel conversion kits. It has the same front end geometry of the old Suzuki LT's. Those old kits are actually pretty cool.

ridin4life05
06-04-2005, 10:10 AM
ya. ive never seen one of those before but i would have to guess its just aftermarket fenders and a quad frame with a yz250 dirtbike engine into it. not too sure though. sick quad man

just look how the frame follows the motor upwards..it was deffinantly a trike..

06-09-2005, 05:03 AM
There's no question about it, that's a Tri-Z convertion. Most likely an old astro quad kit. The motor in it is non-PV so it's a tri-Z motor too. If you wanted to, you can easily stuff a MX motor in have it kick forward, all you need is a tri-z case cover, they bolt right on to a few different years.

TRXRacer1
06-09-2005, 08:50 AM
To be exact it's an 86 Tri-Z so if you need to order any motor or swinger parts you know what to order it for.

LMAO, your right but it's useless. They don't understand and obviously the owner doesn't care because he never thanked anyone for telling him EXACTLY what it is, down to the year.

Never even seen one of those before. But it looks pretty quick to me. Just get a new seat and you'll be good as new.

its a tri-z 250 loads of peole done that coversion over here. go to www.ebay.co.uk and there is like a 100% that there will be atleast 1 of them conversions. there not all that great either. one ran with the blaster class and got its *** kicked.

The plastic is off a kawasaki tecate4..... might possibly be the whole chassis with the yz motor in it.

trxkruzoffman
10-02-2005, 02:37 AM

looks like an 86-87 ytz 250 quad. has the tri-z250 engine which is water cooled. blasters are 200cc. & air cooled. could be an early swap from years ago, who knows.

interesting bike! hope you have fun with it.. funny i've never heard of a 3- to 4 wheeler conversion kit before. someone posted people race these?? haha..i'd be careful and keep an eye on your structural integrity..

i like builds like this one...kind of like that stretched warrior frame fitted to a gsxr 750 motor... four cylinders everybody, now thats a bike.

could you post some pics of the front end, i'd be interested to see what it looks like.

audioworks04
08-13-2009, 10:22 PM
def a tri z conversion. the frame around the air box cover(normally where the gas tank is) makes it a sure thing. I'd try to ring the parts and make it a 3 again.

that there is a blaster with aftermarket plastics and cutom[homemade or shop order] stickers! haha

XR200R
12-04-2009, 01:43 PM
Thats a 1986 yamaha TRI-Z 3wheeler with a astro conversion. take it back to a 3wheeler, it will handle better.

motor is tri-z 250. nothing blaster is on that bike, the blaster was similar in frame design to the tri-z.

front fenders are just a newer astro kit.

damn youngings not knowing anything haha!

see heres another one. sorry im a 3wheeler dude so i know everything hehe.

its deffinetly a tri-z with a 4 wheel kit welded on. when i was younger my cousin had a 350x with a quad kit on it and by looking at some of the welds thats what this is.

as far as the motor the tri-z was basically a yz250 motor and they may have put an actual yz motor in it for whatever reason, so they stuck the stickers on there.

wingnut548
03-24-2010, 05:31 PM
KILLER_SHEE You were right about this being a conversion a long time ago. I bought a atc 250r that had a kit like this done on it. It has since been converted back to three wheels but alot of this kind of thing was done back when some of these boys were just being born. That was still a pretty good eye though I had to take a second look at it to see the conversion kit. Good call bro;)

jboz5786
04-19-2010, 07:53 PM
I was going to say a Kawi Tecate hybrid but a tri z conversion look to be right.

finsteratv
06-08-2010, 06:43 PM
yup i think its a trike conversion
it looked like a yz250/lt250r quad racer to me at first:p

atvmxr
07-07-2010, 03:19 PM
so wait, its a LT250r with a yz motor?

why is the gas tank under the seat?
:blah:

JOHNDOE83
07-07-2010, 03:21 PM
no its a tri-z with a astro quad kit, the motor may be a yz tho.

Conant19
07-07-2010, 10:18 PM
looks like a little tlc and you can have a fast conversion on your hands.
