all it really does it helps the air be activly directed into the oil cooler, correct? so basicly it just helps the bike run cooler, no real power gains or anything right? because techincly all it would be doing other than that is blowing even warmer air directly to the intake, past the head and the oil cooler, just a thought...

Hey, i have air scoops on mine and i know its mostly for looks, but you would be impressed. I went riding today and had to do a little highway riding to where i was going. While i was maxed out, i put my hand down where those scoops are, and there is LOTS of air those things catch and push back on your motor.. Yes I believe that at highway speeds, those scoops will keep your motor cooler... And yes i do believe that it will keep you oil a little cooler too, since its pushing so much air..

it'll keep your engine cooler which will make it produce more power. heat=power loss.

Technically, a cooler engine will make more power and last longer. And you are right, they also direct air right thru the ribs on both sides of your jug to add even more cooling power to your ribs where the heat is expelled. Also the air coming in from the front of your quad is way cooler than the temp between your legs. Thats why I bought a set. Nice product in my opinion.

Where can I get a set of air scoops? I see on some of your signatures they are OMF. Do they have a website or are you getting them somewhere else?

I got mine thru JL ATV Products for $70 + shipping.

Well I am sure it has made a difference but I put the 416 kit in at the same time so I am not sure how much difference it has made. It does start a lot easier and the throttle response is incredible, which I'm sure is partially due to the advance key. For $15 and the ease of installing it I don't think you can go wrong.

The 400EX doesn`t have Liquid Cooling and we are putting Scoops on it. You could put some on your 250X too.

They don't all have to be notched depending on what pipe you are running. But those are the 300ex/250x style I just posted.

Here you go....

Those scoops are aluminum right? If so with some metal polish and a buffer they would shine. I've done my BigGun slip on my blockoff, AC bumper, full chassis skid plate and my levers. I know shinin stuff aint for everone, just me thinkin out loud.

dirt wheels had some Carbon fiber ones that looked pretty sweet. But that would be expensive. And $35 sound like a good deal to me.

tinner, do you think they would work on my 300ex with 400ex front shocks a-arms and tierods? They are bad you-know-what!

Yup got my scoops on with no problems. The look real trick, and seemed to be made for my Keihin carb sticker:blah

Very sturdy too, i was thinking they might have some play, or something. But after i got them on and tried to move them a little there was no doubt they were held on real good.

Hey Red Rooster, There should not be any clearance problems with the 400 front end. The shocks should be in the same vertical type plane as the stockers. So I see no problem with this combo.
