if you want to know which is faster i would say the 350x.both have a lot of hop up potential.i do know you can get almost 50hp from the mojave with bore kit, cams and head work.

Whaaat?? What engine is in the Mojave? I've heard a lot that it's hard to get a 400ex up into the 50's with a bore kit, cams and head work!

I believe the 250x/300ex is a slightly bigger machine (as far as space for the rider goes).

There are tons of upgrades available for hondas, new and used. Upgrades are available for the kawi, but you won't find as much used stuff as you will for the hondas.

I think it will probably come down to which machine you feel more comfortable on and how much money you want to spend for upgrades.

mojave's are quite a bit heavier and there hop up potential isnt quite as good as the motor sounds. yes, its a DOHC 4 valve head, but theres something screwy which makes no sense and holds the motor back. I THINK the cams use rocker arms, which is pointless on a DOHC motor and makes this no better than a SOHC 4 valve honda. i know you can get a mojave up to 416cc, but you can get a 350x up to 430cc. assuming your using a honda frame for th 350x conversion, it will be lighter and handle better than a mojave also

A 350x Motors in 300ex/250x's take stock 400ex's pretty easily. My 300ex with a HMF/WB pipe takes my friends mojave pretty easily.:ermm:

Good Luck finding a an CAM company that knows what the heck their selling except for they have a stage one, stage two, and stage three cams they can only tell you lift and duration at .050 and thats it! I have been designing cams for twenty years (not that i'm smarter or anything) but if your a serious engine builder or a novice builder would't you kinda like to compare openning and closing figures on certian cams to see what you might like to purchase for you engine? Instead all I hear is this is bottom end cam or mid range or full race! What's Up With That? They want you to spend 100.00 to 200.00 dollors on a cam but can't tell you anything about it! If you design it you know where it is suppose to open and close at believe me! I'm new at this atv thing and i'm not saying I know everything but it seems if I'm going to spend my money on something I would at least like to have a choice based on my knowledge on what i want to purchase besides stage 1,2,3 grinds!!!!!

call greg at cycle works racing, 717 637 1907. he builds mojaves and tt races them. his full race mojave has a 345 bore kit, stock stroke, with fcr 39 or 41, .405" cams, klr cdi, 13:1, and o.s. valves and it produces 51 hp at the rear wheels. now before i get flamed for these hp numbers, i know that dyno readings vary greatly, and that its just his word. but he runs a four stroke open class with yfz's, 450r's, built 440ex's. etc and is competitive with all these machines, he says he can stay ahead of piped 450r's on the straights and run with the yfz's. but like any racing, it ultimately comes down to rider. so don't underestimate the mojave. but the 350x is cheaper to build with more potential.

the biggest u can go with a 350x is a 452 but personally i think the 350x is faster

The 300ex frame is a little bigger, plus it handles much better. The 350x motor can do some cool things with just a pipe. It will beat 400ex's. Now a mojave with a pipe, won't even beat a 300ex with a pipe. If you want to spend 5 grand on your motor, then it really doesn't matter which one.

Thanlk you DORK,at least someone knowswhat those mojaves can do built.i never met gres but i had a buddy that raced one back in 97 or so and it was built up and fast as heck.it was Wayne Shay, granted this guy could go fast on a lt 80.i remember him saying he had a rod from a ninja street bike in it,i want to say it was almost 400cc,not sure the exact specs.sounded mean in the woods!

why not just get a mojave frame and put a 350x motor in it??

Because the engine practically bolts right up to the frame on the 300ex/250x. Its probably alot cheaper than doing it on a mojave.

i had a 300ex and i rode a mojave same exact mods, my 300 was faster, lighter, torquier, and much more powerful and handled better. if u did do a 350x conversion you have a 400ex with a 300ex agility, its about same power as 400ex. very cheap to do to.350x conversion is a very much smarter choice
