View Full Version : Question about jets themselves, not jetting.

I went to but some new jets today, and I have a question. The main jet that came out of my carb (146) is shorter with a straight screw driver slot in it, and that went into a hex adapter. The Honda shop I went to only had mains that were longer with a hex head only. Do these replace both my jet and adapter, or were these not the right jets? I did not buy any yet, in case they are the wrong ones. Thanks for your help.

They were not the right jets. What carburetor are you running? Obviously Mikuni and Keihin jets are different. But even so, Keihin has many different styles of main jets and pilot jets.

Here are some pics of the jet on the right and the adapter on the left. Is this a dyno-jet then?? The jet itself is stamped "146".

And this is exactly how my jets look all assembled. Stole this pic from the FAQ section.

you dont need the adaptor for all keihin jets.i came across the same problem when i bought one of those MOOSE jet kits.it had everything the k&n had just different wrapper.

yep, a shorter jet with an adaptor will probably be a jet kit, not keihin jets. if you need to change back to keihin jets, you will need to remove the adaptor too. also, if it has a dynojet in it now, there is a good chance it will have a dynojet needle in there too.

Is there any way to tell the difference between the needles? I am thinking about switching it back to all Keihin parts.

i'm also interested in this because i just ordered a 155 jet from the dealer but also have a K&N jet kit coming too me. I'm guessing the factory jets are longer and the jet kits are shorter therefore requiring the adapter?

Aren't the jet kits numbered differently also? Like a 155 factory jet is different than a 155 jet kit jet?

the jet that was in your carb was from a dynojet kit. i dont know exactly how to tell if the needle has been changed, but if the previous owner did things right, the needle has been changed. the stock carb setup has a long hex head jet and another brass piece that it screws into. there has to be some pics in the FAQ section or somethin. good luck.

oh, and the stock jets and jets from another kit will have different numbers. a 150 keihin jet wont be exactly the same as a 150 dyno-jet.

needle differences:

the stock needle will say B44A on it and it will have 5 clip positions. i believe the dynojet needle will have 6 clip positions. however, you can tell for sure by if it says B44A on it or not.
