ok 1st off i just installed windows 2000 professional on my other comp and now it won't detect my modem or my sound card. anyone know what to do. (those are the 1st 2 questions) 3rd does anyone know of a good program "like" microsoft word.

it doesnt detect your soundcard or modem because they probably are NOT NT compatable, which is what win2k is.. You would have to find NT drivers for them..

As for the programs LIKE MS word, cant help you there..

thanks i bet thats what it is. i guess i may have to borrow windows xp from somebody.

you can find the drivers online then copy them to disk and load them to ur computer with 2000 on it "drivers are free" or if you actually purchased the windows 2000 it will have the drivers on the set up disk


microsoft word is the best program of that nature. if you cant get it i guess note pad will do

i have the disk but i can't find the drivers on it. anybody know where i can find drivers??

i found a program called Jarte that seems pretty good. i think i'll try it for now.

Openoffice is a great alternative to the Microsoft Suite.

One word processor like word is Corel Word Perfect.
IMO, it sucks compared to Word, but it is similar to it. There are just a few things about it that I hate.

my biggest thing is i need a program that has spell check. thats the one thing i wish wordpad had.
