Aftermarket 450R Rear Shock ON 400EX

I have read various post about the 450R rear shock not fitting on the 400EX simply because of the clearence with the size and location of the rezzy, but what about using an aftermarket 450R Shock such as an Custom Axis shock? My question is since there isn't a problem with rezzy clearence in this case. Is there a problem or difference with performance between the 450R and 400EX.

I do welcome peoples opinions, but I am really looking to get some expert advise from the suspension pros out there. Thanks alot.

Even the aftermarket shocks will not work correctly. It is always best to install a shock that was made for the specific model bike.
