Yo my cd rom just decided to commit suicide and stop working like a year ago and ive been thinkin about buyin another one. My uncle works with computers and he said he could install one so i was wonderin which ones are good. And is their anything i can do to make sure that it is in fact broken before i go spend the $$$ for anew one. And ill just be usin it for games so wuts a good one to get and around how much are they.
and i know nothing about cd-roms so fill me in plz

i dunno if it makes a difference but i have an HP pavilion 7935

Im thinking maybe 24x, because thats what I think my laptop has.

I could be wrong though, I never claimed to be a computer expert.:p

most common speed for CDROM drives is 52X. if you are changing the drive just go with a CDRW they are just about the same price. Most common CDRW 52x,32X,52x.

LG makes great Drives. Liteon makes good drives as well. i would stay away from sony drives. they just dont seem to hold up like other drives on the market do.

Liteon Drive (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=27-106-977&depa=0)
LG Drive (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=27-136-033&depa=0)

CDrom Drives start at $12
CDRW Drives Start at $22
DVDRW Drvies Start At $59
