I needed tunes but couldn't lose the back seat in my 98 tacoma.
So the other day I was watching some car hop up show and thought, hey I can do that. I had allready put a fosgate head unit and 4 eclipse 6.5" door speakers in the original holes. Now I built this box with a Kenwood 10" sub. It is coated with fiberglass and is within .2 cubic feet of the recomended air space. Not to bad for my first custom box. Saved a pile of $$$ the stereo shop wanted $200 for a box that would take away my back seats. and the only solution they had was disconects so I could remove it when i needed the space.
check out my solution.

thats awesome! How exactly did you make it ? Right now i have a 10" in the back but it takes up a seats leg room, so i can only have 2 passengers :ermm: Something like that would be awesome to have!
nice job!

I needed .8 cubic feet of air space (Inside mesurments it makes a big diferance). Then mesured the space I was willing to sacrafice.
Once I had a plan I made the box out of MDF that I picked up at the local lumber yard. I am a carpenter by trade so that part was easy for me. Then I coated the hole box in two coats of fiberglass resine to make sure it was 100% tight and strong. Painted it with speckle paint and clear coat. I may have it carpeted to match the truck if the paint chips.

thats funny i am doing that same exact thing tomorrow in my single cab truck. im tired of having to little of a box so im moving up front and running it on the hump in the middle of the floorboard above the tranny.
