What would it take to setup a 250 X motor so it would out run a 300ex in cross country racing, what mods would I need to make ,

what motor mods
what pipe ( I here good things about WB series )
could a 400ex carb help
what about a cam

It shouldnt take much at all since the 2 machines are practically identical.

in a race its mostly the rider, but it wont hurt to have an awsome machine

I agree with it being the rider, just want it to be quick for tree to tree and not slow getting up to speed............ but the rider is 90% , just want to make sure the bikes 10% is good to go...................... ;)))))))))))))))))

leave the cam alone. the 250x cam is already hotter then the 300exs. i would say put a white bros e-series pipe.

what's the diff in the 2 cams? 250x vs 300ex cam. I wish I would've know this. I could've had a 250x cam in my 300 at rebuild. :confused:

I was told that the only difference was that the 300 hade a little more bore(its still only like 282) and the 300 has electric start but they ran the same speed becuase of the added weight but im not 100% of all this but i also heard the 330 kit in a 300ex is pretty bad it works in a 250x too.
