I remember reading that there were issues with the '99s but I don't remember what it was. Weak transmissions?

i heard the intake boot leaked but ive had no problems....

I dont think they had any problems. They didn't change at all so it would have been common throughout all of the years.

Boy, I hope the answers aren't too bad. I have a '99, and so fas so good (knock on wood!). I will be interested to hear if there are any major issues with the first year.

believe the swingarms were cracking

some had weak swing arms... frames cracked by the shock mounts... air boot cracked and leaked...


if it hasn't broke over the last 6 years its not goin to break now;)

My 99 has never been broken. Knock on wood!!! But my friends yfz has been in the shop 3 times in 2 monthes!!!!

My 2000 airboot cracked. So did my buddy's 2001.:ermm:

i think it has alot to do with how much you mess with your carb like rejetting and twisting it around and stuff i had the same problem but when they ported my head they had it all apart and re glued it back soo that prolly had effect too

Yea my airboot cracked two weeks ago on my 99' while I was in practice. It sucked. But we got it put back to gether and sealed it with bearing grease for the race. I got a new one but I havent had time to get it on.

Where exactly are they cracking? I'm not familiar with how they're set up. Are there two boots-one between the carb and airbox and one between the carb and cylinder? If so, which one is cracking?

Well on my 99 there is an aluminum plate then it goes to the rubber boot and the rubber boot is glued on to the aluminum plate and mine cracked where they meet up, the new ones are molded in to one piece

o yea and it is the one that bolts to the head so its the front one.
