break in peroid?

im getting a new yfz450 from east coast atv soon but ill will be having a race coming all so ill probably have the quad before the race but im wondering if there is a break in period for the yfz450 i used to race 2 stokes and i kno they have a break in period but im not sure about the 4 stokes

Break in periods are an argued subject. I warmed mine up and rode it like it was meant to be ridden. No ***** footin' around. Alot of guys do it this way but you'll find just as many that disagree and take it easy for 10 hours or so. Just change your oil after you break it in, I don't think there's a whole lot to breakin' a motor in.

I agree with ketchup. I was always told that you ride it like you intemd to ride it. Say you putt around on your "break in period" Then go out and run an mx track balls out. The bike will not have the seals and all seated for the balls out mode. I am not saying hit the rev limter through every gear during break in and ofcourse change your oil often.

Yeah this is a very debated subject. When i do mine, Ride it easy for maybe 10 minutes to break in the Cam...and then i ride it like im racing.....runs stong!
