I just had C&D put a whole bunch of aftermarket pieces on my quad. Included in that is a temperature gauge. It is reading 250 to 275 pretty consistently. Is that the proper temperature?

i did the same thing. 426 13:1 compression. when i got it finished it was running the same temps as you. i got worried so i called xr's only. they said normal running temperature was from 250-300. remember this is oil temperature. i aked since oil begins break down at 300 degrees what should i do. they said just change the oil more often but my bike was well within operating temps. i now run klotz 20-50 synthetic for safety, good luck

It plugs in where the dip stick goes. I got it from C&D Racing.

i use the heat seaker, i chose this one because it has a colored background which you can read the guage when you are riding easily. it has been used for the past season with no problems. and it also replaces the stock dip stick. keep the stock dipstick with you so you can check your oil level. neither of the guages are easy to read the oil level since the temp guage is like a needle probe. and they neither cost very much.

mine runs between 225 and 275, never above that though and that was some hard really high rpms for extending amounts of time riding. i have the heatseeker also.

mine doesn't get that hot. however, i am not a big trail rider. i am mainly in open areas where it sees plenty of air. in the summer my oil averages less than 250 degrees.

the warpdrive temp guage is great. I have had mine for a little over a year and my temps are between 250 and 275 in the trails.

Cool, sound like I am right on target, I am usually between 250 and pushing 275.
