wonder if putting a 16 tooth sprocket will be better for the 2nd gear winding up and the bottom of third being so sluggish? I ride tight trails and 2nd isnt enough but the bottom of third is wierd what do you think?

first off, what quad? if you have an 400ex, you might want to get a 14t tooth for more low end, a 16t will give you more speed (topend). i got a 14t and would definitly reccomend it...it pulls alot harder down low, which is great for tight trails and wheelies :)

yea i agree i rode a 14 tooth for a while and loved it. just recently i had to go up to a 15 tooth because i got 18s in the back.

yes its a 400ex. and the 15 tooth thats in it wont let the 2nd gear go fast enough and the 3rd might be better at the bottom. if I went smaller on the front it will hit the rev limiter even sooner and that would really slow me down! I was wondering if the 16 tooth would help with 3rd gear being a dog at the bottom but the middle and top of 3rd is GREAT! and toomuch for most of these trails. 2nd just aint enough.

it would make 3rd gear a little worse at bottom but make second a lot better at top

well i guess i'll just buy one of each and see what happens. i have mixed reviews, some say same as you that 2nd would go faster but a 14 would rev up 3rd a bit and might be able to ride more in 3rd without tons of shifting. thanks for your input. i'll post my results.
