View Full Version : Am I being picky, or is this axle that soft?

Hi all!

I had my quad's rear up on a jack today and spun the wheels with the motor. It looked like the alxe was just a slight out of straight. The wheels kind of wobbled and at the ends of the axle it didn't spin true. I have had the thing for bout 4 months now. I am 200lb with gear and have jumped it very little, highest being about 6 feet or so at Glamis.

My question: are alxes truly straight or do they wobble at the end anyway. Or, are the R's alxes that soft? Just wondering if I should get an after market one or if I'm being to picky?

Thanks

Are you sure its the axle and not the tires. I would remove the tire and see if it is the axle.

It could be the tire, rim, hub or the axle. the axle could be bent an 1/8" and out on the end where the tire is could look like 3/4" of an inch.

I havent heard of the 450's axles bending try what kbass24emtp said and remove the tires and look at the axel.

I'll do that. But unfortunatly I can see the axle itself wobbling just a hair. I'm not making a judgement off of just "tire wobble", that could be any number of things. But I am looking at the alxe just before it gets to the rim and it is definatly wobbling a possible 1/16 - 1/8 of an inch. I will have to take the rims off and use a dial to really check, I just want to know if anyone else has come across a soft stock axle? Like I said, I'm not "heavy" and I don't jump too big.
