Aight well im about to sell my 300ex and step up, and ive been thinkin about a 400ex, nice 250r, or savin up for a few more months and gettin a yfz, my question is, if i get a yfz, is this thing gonna completely kill me? Ill be doin mostly trail riding, and i read everywhere how fast they are, but i think ill be able to handle it, how well have you guys been able to control all the power, also, i know my limits and im not gonna push it too much, but i just dont want to get this thing and realize that its too much for me, what do yall think?

a completely stock yfz shouldn't be too much for you if you can hold yourself back like you said. i prolly wouldn't want to get a pipe or anything for a while, cause it makes a pretty big difference. there's never too much power. the first time i rode a yfz i thought it was too much. i just couldn't believe how bad they were. but now i've got mine and i'm pretty used to it after about a month and a half. i'd say go for it, just take it easy for a while.

How do they compare to a 250r, considering its been rebuilt in good shape, at stock bore?

depends on what kinda 250r it is. if its a big bore PV motor with alot of mods then i would go for the R but if its mainly stock then i think you should go for a 450. but at stock bore, it prolly is a mainly stock engine so a yfz would be faster. i heard from a guy at a dealership that when you put an exhaust, filter and jets on a 450 it gains 25% more power!

i think the YFZ would be more reliable too, cause they are newer and 4-stroke

2-strokes can be just as reliable. i had an '03 RM125 for awhile and didnt have one problem with it:) and it was fast as hell!

yeah i had a KX85 and didn't have any problems with that either, but thats just what i would think, cause the 250R is older, but i guess it can be just as reliable...
