Anyone know anything bout combining a 650r and a 400 engine to make a stroker?

Acording to service honda fiche, the cylinder and the head are the same. I know they have different bores, but that is easy to solve. Was just wondering.

i think they might be fibbing to you. theres no way they could be the same. one is liquid cooled and the other is air cooled.

Ok, I still may be way off, but I just got to check the stuff. I don't know any specs on a xr600, but that's what I meant instead of a 650. I don't know if combining them is possible or if it would do any good. Also does anyone know the horsepower of a stock 600?

Well I think that a fully stock XR650 puts out a max. of about 43 HP. Those bikes are, I believe, very choked-off power wise to start out (for ex. look at the muffler and the carb is also restricted I think).

So the 600 is virtually the same engine, just a little bit smaller. Im not positive, but it would seem to me that the HP couldnt be that much less than that of the XR650's.

Keep in mind that those motors will flat out haul arse once opened up a bit.
Id guess at least 50 or so HP when opened up.
Sorry if Im a bit off, my memory is a bit fuzzy on this.

the xr600 and 400ex are in the same engine family, they are built with the same ideas and principles in mind, ones just bigger.like a chevy 305 and 350. i dont know if anytrhing will bolt up and that would be alot of money to find out that it wont. i know a xr600 will fit in a 400ex frame

I wonder if the xr600 motor can use the same add ons, ehhaust and cdi. I know they would have different revs and stuff, but could maybe a 400 box be like an xr 250 box for a 600, and provide more rev. Also, how easilly will the 600 motor fit in the frame, and I wonder how much a used motor and carb can be bought for?
