I'm usually not someone to degrade somebody's choice in conversions, but I'm confused. Why would you do this? Wouldn't it be much easier, and cheaper, to get a 250r chassis?

What is your reasoning behind this conversion?

im with you grabber, looks cool.be yourself dammit.theres nothing wrong with a custom conversion(i did cr250 blaster).as long as you like it is all that matters, you donthave to try and please anyone.why a 400ex chassis and 250r motor?BECAUSE YOU CAN thats why!!maybe most of the 250r frames are busted andhave been welded on too many times and you like the 400 chassis and handling..huhlooks good man, show off those mad skills.get a aftermarket silencer though...:D

I'm not saying "boy that's stupid" or "you're an idiot". I'm simply curious as to WHY he chose this particular conversion. The reason of "because you can" really doesn't make much sense to me.

i think this is one o the most interesting hybrids only cuz im curious on actually how much fabrication had to be done was it hard easy i have access to a 400ex chassis and a 250r motor was it hard to do at all ?? i think it would be cool its kinda like the servicehonda cr250r thing interesting

Wilkin- Don't you like how people overreact about a simple question?:D I'm also curious about why this particular conversion, but I would probably do it because I'm a huge fan of 2-strokes but I love the handling and feel of my 400ex...so that would be MY reasoning towards this conversion.

you can tell, both the 250R and 300ex's silencers had to screws underneath it,and you can cleary see that they have tw screws right at the end of the silencer

Ha, oh man do I feel like an idiot! Now I can see that it is a stock silencer, when I was looking at it before it looked like it was just an aftermarket silencer painted black like the pipe...couldn't even see the "square" part of the muffler. My bad, I apologize.:(

Well there really wasnt anything good on tv this month:).
Actually i set out to build a xl650/400ex ,when my dad got me thinking about a bike i built in 1985 , I took a new 85 atc 250r and grafted on the front of a suzuki quadracer . It just sorta snowballed from there.

The muffler in the pic will be changed soon i just used stock(cheap) till i got the whole thing up and running . Now i can have some fun refining it . Or maybe i will sell it and build something else. Just curious has anybody put a atc 350x frtend on a raptor chassis, damm i got take my medication again:)

I can definately tell in that picture that it's the stock muffler, in the other picture it was angled so the bottom part of the muffler was blended in with the rear left tire, so to me it looked like a painted aftermarket silencer.

That's awesome that you're into fabricating crazy stuff together. Must be nice to have a crazy imagination matched with skill.

If you want a crazy conversion, you can have my idea (because I'll probably never actually get around to doing it).

There is a motorcycle that uses a small-block Chevy 350 V8. It's called a Boss Hoss. I think it would be awesome to graft that into a quad frame. It wouldn't be easy, I'm not exactly sure what the driveline looks like in a Boss Hoss, or how difficult it would be to modify. But I figure, if they can put a V8 into a motorcycle frame, you should probably be able to use that to put it into a quad frame.

Here's the site for the cycle, looks crazy.

You'd have to be able to find one for a few thousand in order to make the conversion reasonable, and right now, I don't see any for less than about $20 grand.

You know thats pretty sic , on the opposite side of that i made a flywheel and some stuff for a guy who put a harley V-twin in a 43 willys jeep, the willys 4cyl made 45 horsepower and this harley motor made 75. he moved to florida and i never saw it run. or maybe the the supercharger i made for a riding lawnmower using a bilge blower off a boat:) Damm i used to luv the A-Team and Mac giever.

I had a Ninja 600R and a friend's dad had a blaster chassis sitting there. If I'd had the place to do it I would have done that conversion in a heart beat. I already had a rough idea on what I was going to have to do to the frame to get the motor to fit. The problem in the end would be getting a swingarm long enough to keep it from standing up all of the time.

The R headlight will plug in to one of the ex sockets, the problem is finding the headlight, honda dosent have any more. I have a NOS one coming from west coast for 100. bucks .
To get the look i wanted i trimmed 2 inchs off the frt of the ex nose.
