not quite the first... tried that in WI a few years back. just didn't take off. pics at www.superbikers2.com. look in the pictures section from some of the first races (00'-01'?).

edit- just looked back myself. pics of quads under oct '01, may '02, june '02, july '02. #66 quad in july '02 pics ultimately became my dirt track/ tt quad.

maybe 10-12 quads would show. i think they ran 3 classes, run all at the same time. imo, problem was competition. two banshees ran together, two stock raptors ran together, two 440 hondas, two 500's (zilla+cr500)........ you get the picture. one lap and everything was spread out. boring to watch or ride.

realize this was before the boom we've enjoyed here the last two years. at that time the raptor was the sport quad king. we thought it was the baddest machine that could ever be produced. 440 honda's were the ticket in ama 250 classes...
my how times have changed.

keep this in mind if any of you are going to start this super moto quad business.

american racers fronts are too expensive. if you can run a harder compound and get them to last awhile, great. my advice..

run the same radials on the front that the mx guys ran until 2 years ago. you can probably get those from tirerack.com for $30-$40. they're kuhmo's, just don't groove them at all. i can look in the shed if anyone needs the exact model.

rears.. everyone ran a #58 am. racer. 18x8x10. seemed to last a few races.

i would also experiment with a stiff steering dampner. try hauling your quad down from 80 mph on pavement with tt style front tires once. i get a horrible front end wiggle every time!!!
