my 400ex has a dg exhaust,k&n, rev box, stage 1 hot cam,440 with 12.5-1 comp.and the head is ported. i havent run it yet with all this done to it but i was told that i should cut 110 race gas with premium 80% prem. 20% race. at 1000ft elevation. race gas is alittle to much $ so i got some 100LL av. gas how should i mix this? also is there anything to watch out for when using this?

If you run 100LL you need to mix will oil just like mixing gas for a 2-stoke engine avgas is very, dry also you need to run your carb a little rich to keep from burning your valves and valve seats.

Yea I was wondering the same thing. I can get 110 for $4 a gallon, and 100ll for $2-$3 a gallon. But I was told that you had to run gas with no lead because even though it is 100 low lead, it would still mess with you motor. I might have been told wrong though. Anyone ever tried it?

i was told that the lead in the gas acts like a lubricant. and that you can get 100 octane av gas with no lead or you can get 100LL and i was told that LL is a better choice. but thats just what ive heard - dont know if theres any truth to it

According to what mickey dunlap from four stroke tech says, the lead in the leaded gas helps to cool the engine better. Also AV gas is designed for high elevation low RPMs, while say VP is for HIgh RPMS and low elevation. Thats just what I heard.
