cracking an aftermarket piston has NOTHING to do with what brand he chose......imo he got the right one

Lokiyfz450, consider yourself lucky. It could have been MUCH MUCH worse. You could be buying cases, crank, rod, piston, cylinder, etc. My JE piston let go.... and it was worse. Check out the thread under 450R page 2, "beware 13.1 JE piston owners".

JE will not send you a new piston. They were gonna sell me the exact piston at cost... like $87 bucks. I declined. Good luck.

yeah I don't want to run a JE piston again. I called the place where I bought it and let them know that I cracked the piston.

I have been running this piston since August racing and dune trips. I can't really say that the piston was over due. I replaced the rings thinking that was my problem and at the track I made about 3 laps and choked on oil.

Everyone has there own oppinon. I prefer the GYTR 13:1 Piston, I had last years race season on it. about 30 mx races, i went to replace it this year and it still looked new.

I am going to try a Wiseco 12.5 to 1 and see how that works. I have not heard anything bad about them yet.

we ran JE in the past for a few years and never had a problem until 2 months ago, same thing cracked down the middle. this isnt a new problem with the JE but it wont happen to one of our motors again. we use CP Pistons now
