I just put on a White Brothers E series pipe and it is melting the rear plastic where it goes under the plastic b/f it gets to the silencer.

Has anyone else put an aftermarket pipe on their 300 and had this same problem? What did you do? HELP!

I have a 98 300EX.:)

You can also find silver heat tape to put on your fender to keep it cool.

after i installed my fmf megamax pipe i went rifing for a little bit. I came home and saw a bump on the plastic and it was really warm. I lloked under the plastic and i saw............now what was it that i saw?...........oh yeah, the remnants of a tape on heat shield. Before the damage got too bad i quickly ran to the nearest auto store and purchased some heat tape. Now i ahve a little convex bump on my plastic. read continuously until an idea pops into your head.

In english: Just buy some heat tape and put it anywhere you thing the plastic is susceptable to heat damage before things get ruined.

OK gang,

I put enough heat tape on this sucker, I think I am going to be ok. I went riding this weekend and saw smoke coming from there. I moved my leg and thought it was my plastic melting again. Here it was my warm up pants melting on the header pipe! Ha ha. So now I have a few holes in my pants from melting!:D
