To race my Z, Or not to race my Z?

I've got my 05' Z400 sitting in the garage and i've had it for about 2 weeks. i've never raced before and if i do this season it will be at one of the local tracks? I've never owned a Z before (500lt). Do you guys think i should get used to my quad better before i begin to race?

If you guys race when did you start to race and how long had you owned your quad beore racing

I Got my Z in october and raced it in May. This was two years ago and i really think if you feel comfortable on it go for it. It cant hurt to ride the track on a practice day first. I then bought my yfz and raced it two weeks later!
