POWROLL 440 kit w/race cam, jetting, K&N, vented air lid, full HMF.. runs circles on that 416.. with a 15tooth in the front!!:eek2: :D

A correctly built 440 will spank a 416 all over the track

go w/ a 500 big bore!!!! , Out of the two that you mentioned, I would personally go with the 440 w/ hot cam stage II!!;)

That's right, it's all about correctly built bikes. Too many people slap their engines together without doing the proper research and setting up for the desired compression. There are a lot of slow revving 440's out there, but if done correctly I can't see how a 416 can beat a 440. There is no replacement for displacement.

yes, make sure everything works together. for example, don't get a larger piston if your not going to run an aftermarket cam. you will be wasting your money and i have actaully seen 440's slower than stock ex's due to their crappy setups.

my friend had a 440kit with stock exhaust, cam, and airbox lid and I could stay with him when I had a slip on , and no lid. I now have a 440 with full exhaust, rev box, K&N with no lid, stage II hotcam, and a 11.1 compression wiseco piston. And can side by side with my friends friends 450r with a hmf slip on, and a K&N up sand mountain, UT. Both of us beat his brother's raptor with a full yoshi, hotcam, and a K&N. If you are a duner I would suggest the 440 over a 416.

I've got a 426ex, .40 over piston, port and polished head, and stage 2 cam, with no air box and i can outrun my buddies 440, and i can run with my other buddies yfz450. i like the way mine runs i have alot of bottem end torque and some topend.

I just got my bike back together I have a 440 kit with the stage 2 hot cam and port n pollished. It will beat my buddys 450r with a full yoshi system.

What happens if you switch bikes?

srcapen, that is the most ridiculous signature I have ever seen.

well my logic behind choosing the 416 IS since you are closer to stock bore you are staying in the "RELIABLE ZONE" usually after 426 and on it gets to be a bit of a hassle imo you need the oversized head studs and all that other 440 stuff with 416 you can keep your slip on or w/e you have and whoop stock ex's and pretty modded ones mine spanks 440s up and down the strip like nothing and smokes banshees as well not lying either banshees are clse but i pul away in 5th mine is set up as follows

MOTOR
tmm 416 bore
tmm revbox
12-1 piston
duncan fat boy cut
jetted a tad rich (for the taller gears)
vesrah clutch fibers barnett plates barnett springs ( heavy duty)
K&N no airbox with outerwares
crf450 tioming chain
tmm cam (wore down to almost stock kinda sad )

GEARING
(bald) 20 in tall rear tires
15/36

all i kan really remember right now ig i have anything else ill post it up

:macho

i don't think you have a .40 over piston. a .040 is a 406. a 426 is .120 over, given your using the stock crank.

go with a 426 if you want to be closer to a 440, mi just built my 426 with 11:1 stg 2 hotcam, port and polished head, full biggun exhaust and rev box and i was dynoed at 41hp, i put my buddies fcr on was dynoed at 43, so that will be my next purchase, with the same mods no fcr the 440 was putting out 43-44hp, not much diff. over my 426, i dont know what a 416 puts out though?

No im running a .40 over piston, and stock crank. I dont claim to be a mechanic. But the guy I let build my motor told me it would be a 426 so i just trusted him. but you never know i could be wrong.

406----.040 over
416----- .080 over
426-----.120 overstock size

I would like to admit i was wrong (as usual) i did my home work mine is .40 over so its 416 or something like that. i learned my lesson.Ddont let your buddy get drunk and throw the clymer manual out the door and build your motor. but for that much work its still impresses me.

My ex will soon be a 426 when I do the work to make it a 426.

a .40 over would be near impossible. the sleeve you would need would be massive. thus, the stock sleeve will NOT work for a .40 over. massive boring of the cases would need to be done in order for the sleeve to fit through too. i have a feeling you have a 0.040 over, which is a 406. when you say it is 0.40 over, you are referring to inches aren't you?

0.040 , i forgot to add another zero, sorry

that makes sense. your running a 406 then. ;)
