Hi folks,

I spoke with Lenny from Duncan Racing on Friday night. I was asking about possibly running a 50/50 ratio of trick and 92 octane pump gas. He said no problem. ( on a stock 400ex motor)

He told me I'd have quicker throttle responce and cooler running temp.

Curious if anyone's tried this and am I wasting my money?

What did you benifit from it?

Thx,

i'm assuming your talking about a higher octane (race)gas?if so, i doubt you would gain any throttle response being as a higher octane gas takes a higher compression to burn it.if you are running stock compression,i don't think you need anything more than what your motor calls for.i ran 115 octane straight,115 octane with a 50/50 mix of 93 and didn't notice any difference on10.5:1 compression.it won't hurt your motor but i think the only thing you will gain is the nice smelling exhaust:) there is the old wise tail that it will give you a boost of power but i never noticed a difference when i tried running higher octane when my quad was stock.

there was a post on this whole octane arguement in the old forum, try looking there for more help.

I've run it a lot in my 400 and noticed better low end power and throttle response. At first I was leary of running 110 octane, now every time I go to the dunes I either take 5 gal of AV fuel or buy 5 gal of race fuel when I get there. The quad also seems to run better several tankfulls after the good fuel is gone. It will burn white and smells sweet. Go for it!!

What is trick fuel? Are you refering to something like 110 octane race fuel?

"trick" fuel is a brand of race gas like "vp racing fuels" and its a higher octane gas designed for higher compression motors so they do not ping.

a super high octane gas is not good for the stock 400 engine, you wont see any real gain of hp , plus its like 10 bucs

I fill up with "trick fuel" everytime I replace my powerbands. Also, when running "trick fuel" in my stock motor, I soften the seat foam for peak performance:D

Don't know from personal experience,,but from what I've read,,,race gas does nothing for a stock motor,,,,
