After riding my quad this weekend at the dunes, I had to pull a link out of my new chain to get it to tighten back up. I had to put a half-link in place.
Has anyone had any experiences, good or bad with a half link installed? I am concerned that I've made the chain weaker by putting it in there.

Should never have to use a half link- something wrong!
Half links not near strong enough for atv's!

Yeah, thats what I was afraid of. Any idea what might be wrong?
this is a 520 Chain on a +1 swingarm. Stock sprockets.

Probably just dirt in the carrier not letting it rotate back to get enough slack for the extra link.

I had that same problem with my 300 EX. I changed my sprockets to a 13/26 and the chain wouldn't fit right. I put a halflink in it but the joint where the half link joined onto the regular chain well the joint was too tight and after a few runs it poped the master link apart. I put anothe halflink in but this one we bent just a little bit to open it up a bit more and it has been working perfect for quite some time now!
