I messed up my oem drain plug, so I drilled out a new hole and tapped a 7/16 course threads into the motor. It leaks with a washer. I know I should have tapped fine threads but it is too late. Has any one done this and found a way to make it not leak. It doesn't leak bad, but it is a nuisence.

i agree. im always nervous tightening bolts into aluminum. i torque everything to spec (i think because i work in a tire shop i am particularly paranoid about torque specs :) )

my engine bolt I just torque a little bit down to where its a little more than snug...no need for a torque wrench for me

You could have some one put in a HeliCoil.

don't panic bro. I did the same thing on my 250R. Here's what ya do, you buy some high temp silicone, and a sheet of orange gasket material. Cut a washer out of the silicone sheet, and put it over the bolt. Then cover the inside with the high temp silicone and put her on. That's what i do, and mine doesn't leak.

it kinda helps that I work at a place with a water-jet machine, so i can cut all sorts of custom gaskets, and various metal pieces for my quad. Where u located in michigan?

Saginaw, Mi

I got it to quit leaking with a copper washer and some black silicone.
